"I AM your uncle, Luke!" At least you could be! I do have one niece that is about your age and thank God she and the other nieces never took up this nasty habit and got addicted like their parents, uncles, aunts, grand parents, and great grand parents! We definitely were a multi-generational smoking family! I do have a nephew and great nephew that did start smoking right out of high school and I'm trying to set a good example for them plus my remaining siblings!

Anyways, I really am rooting for you and was so happy to hear that you stood your ground yesterday and kicked that demon's ash!!! Please keep reminding yourself that you DO want this quit more than anything! Whenever ol' nic comes calling again, just kick his ash again!!! You have proven that you CAN do this!!! You've got a proud uncle here!

Leela, sorry I'm late seeing this but it looks like the SSC Village already posted and helped you get through this. As I always say, it takes a village.... We've all struggled, we've all had the nicodemon try to pull us back. Some of us have had a few practice rounds, some of us are still fighting the nicodemon every day. I'm just glad you are still smoke free! I'm all about rewards, so please be sure to reward yourself by remaining smoke free! Just remember to post and wait for 5 responses if you have the desire to smoke. By the time you have 5 responses, the urge will be gone. One day at a time, one hour at a time if needed! We're all rooting for you!

Your body is healing and old nic wants to drag you back down, especially on your anniversary. Remember you used to smoke to celebrate, to be sad, to be angry, anytime there was an emotional situation involved you would smoke. Now you simply must...BE.

Dig deep to understand what chain of events triggers each urge and start now finding ways of dealing with them. The longer you practice, the sooner these nic-isms will leave you in peace.

Leela, that demon sees you coming up on one month and is trying to steal your glory. What helped me when I was in a tough spot was thinking about how hard quitting was and that I'd just have to do it all over again. Smoking was not an option. What has helped me in recovery period is fortifying my recoveries during periods when things are going well, i.e. when there are no cravings. That tends to help ward off the demons and teaches me new skills. It is difficult to learn new skills while in the middle of a crisis. Old skills surface. Get through this and then fortify your recovery. And never stop fortifying it. Listen and learn. Learn to listen by reading, posting, asking questions and changing your lifestyle up a bit.

Let me tell you something. I lost many quits around the time you are at. Why he shows up is beyond me. Maybe I was to focused on getting my one month down that I forgot to take care of today. Just a thought. Another thing, look at the days you have smoke free and ask yourself if a smoke worth those days. If you smoke do you really want to see day one again and reset your meter. I know, if hurts like hell to come here and admit you smoke and it hurts even more to reset the meter. I see many people here with long quits and I could have been one of them, but I gave in. Don't do it, it is hard but don't do it.
