what is the most embarassing cigarette moment

14 years ago 0 1080 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Mine was when my daughter had a friend to stay, they'd be about 13 I guess. My daughter told me later that the girl had told everyone that our house stunk of smoke, my daughter was mortified, and I could have died of shame. My daughter ( who is a passionate anti-smoker) also was accused many times of smoking because mine and Paul's smoke was all over her. Poor kid, she must have been so embarassed through our awful habit- still shames me to this day.

Thought of another one last night.  A number of years ago I took Mr. J. out for a  surprise milestone birthday.  An overnight stay at a fancy resort, special dinner, etc.  Only to find out that the lodge was hosting a Cancer research seminar, and they had flown in 60+ people, all non-smokers, doctors, key note speakers, etc.  Mr. J and I were the only smokers there - it was like we were the crash test dummies!

I remeber I was at a workshop and the lady conducting the workshop asked if anyone smoked in the workshop because she could strongly smell it and it was bothering her. It was me, and the reason it smelled so strong was because I stubbed out a half a cigarette and when you do that and keep it it reeks!!! I was too embarrassed to say it was me.

Oh PB, been there, done that! For some reason the wrong end of a cig always tasted like fried tomatoes to me, and I hate tomatoes!
I think my most embarrassing one was the day after surgery.  Mr. J was up visiting me before he headed to work, and I insisted we go outside for a smoke.  There we were, standing outside the entrance door, me in my hospital garb and slippers, puffing away.  My surgeon arrived at the hospital while we were outside, and announced in front of everyone that if I was well enough to be outside smoking, I was well enough to go home!

I'm forgetting about the multiple stores I used to buy from because I didn't want the clerks to know how much I smoked.

I have to say, that going out in the freezing cold and blowing wind, you hair flying everyone...yeah, just a tad embarassing...:o)  But my most embarassing moment would have to be when I was about to light my smoke and the flame on my lighter was way up!!!!! yup... you guessed it, I was thinking on getting bangs anyway, lol (now there's a stink lol).

I've had a few.

  • Crashing the car & recieving a facefull of Cigarette buts & ash from a overflowing exploded ashtray !.
  • Dropping a cigarette between my legs while driving down a busy motorway
  • Roll your own bits of tabacco all over the show, house, car clothes pockets.. everywhere !
  • Nicotine stains on my finger tips
  • Flicking a half smoked cigarette out the car window, only the window was up & the cigarette flew behind me onto the backseat, again on a busy motorway

A few months before I quit, I got into an elevator at work with a few other people, seconds after I'd finished a cigarette.  One of them started talking about how awful it smelled in there, saying 'do you smell that?  It smells like garbage or rotten food...'  I nearly died of embarrassment!

I once lit the wrong end of one, took a deep drag, started choking, then grabbed what I thought was my beer to get the awful taste out of my mouth, but it was a half full beer bottle with about 20 butts in it. After taking a drink of that I threw up. Wow, smoking was so glamorous. LOL
