I didn't tell the nurses nor the doctor, but I checked out of a hospital against the doctor's advice because I was jonesing really bad. When I was admitted, they asked me if I smoked. I said yes. So they put a patch on me. Sorry, but patches did nothing for me, probably because it just wouldn't stay on well. By the second day, I was in full withdrawal and checked out of the hospital so that I could smoke.

OH this is a good thread!

My ex husband and I (we were married at the time) were flying from Jacksonville, Florida to Detroit, Michigan on what was his first plane ride, ever.  He was so nervous!  I told him to go in the bathroom, turn on the vent fan and smoke in there.  I had done it with no problem!  Well, he went in the bathroom, lit up and smoked his cigarette but of course, neglected to turn on the fan.  Needless to say, when he came back to his seat, a flight attendant came up to us and told us to "remain in our seats until all other passengers had deplaned".  The pilot gave him a good talking to, threatening arrest and certain other troubles but luckily, he convinced the pilot to let him go with a warning because he was "so scared as this was his first plane ride and he was going to meet his new mother in law that he just couldn't help himself".

Now that was embarassing!!

I remember when I was in the hospital i lit a cigarette in the bathroom and stood on the toilet so the smoke would go out the vent.  I thought I was pretty smart until the nurse let me know that she knew what I was doing.
