Hey Jim - thanks.  I'm definately doing a little better now than I was earlier today.  Was almost ready to give up but thankfully this site "talked me down" and I didn't smoke.
Still kicking ole' Nic's butt...

Hey Janet!

I lived on this site while at work my first few months!  I would do a repair or make a new piece and then come here to read and post in between!  If I was working or reading or posting, I wasn't smoking!  When an unbearable craving hit, I walked the stairs!  So, ramble on buddy!!!  If it helps, the forum is serving it's purpose!

I'm still hanging on!  Actually, today has been pretty easy going so far - no great craves for a smoke.  It's weird...I miss it...almost mourn it, but certainly don't want it back.  I find myself with so much free time now, I don't know what to do with myself.  I'm sure once these thoughts of smoking are out of my system, I'll find plenty to keep me busy, but for now, I find I'm sleeping alot more.  When I'm asleep, I'm not craving a cigarette; so that's working to my advantage right now.
Thank you everyone for being here - you're making this more tolerable than you can imagine!

Janet, the first few days for me were consumed with thinking about smoking- not necessarily craving a cigarette, but as they had been such an important part of my day I was constantly aware of the absence of them. Also, everywhere I turned on the street, seeing people in cars, on the tv etc it appeared that everyone (nearly) was smoking.
I think it's purely because this is such a life defining change of habit that we are re-adjusting both mentally and physically and so are all consumed with the 'smoking' thoughts (IMHO of course lol)

Thinking about smoking while you're in your second day isn't stupid at all. You're still withdrawing and will be for a while yet, so the cravings will still be strong at times, but will get lighter over time. Hang in there.

Thanks Kaiser.  Today has been a fairly decent day - not too many cravings or withdrawal symptoms.  I'm certainly not letting my guard down by any means.  I'm just hopeful that tonight will be a better night then last night.
Keeping my quit - no matter what.
