Hey Cristina!!!

Howdy and welcome!  Quitting is probably one of the hardest things that you will ever do and you will  ALWAYS  find the support you need here!  Along with the support, there is a virtual plethora of information here on how to cope with cravings and deal with other issues that may arise!  Read and learn!  I spent a  LOT  of my spare time here in the beginning of my quit for the distraction the site offers and for the knowledge that I needed to defeat the nico-demon!

So, yell when you need us or just get on here and yell!!   That's the way to defeat another craving and feel better!

Cristinas,

I'm glad you are feeling a bit better and congratulations on getting through that highly stressful moment this morning! Hell week can be quite tough and comes with it's own host of challenges! But you are right in recognizing that support is a huge part in keeping you motivated. All we can do is hope that with time your husband will come around and maybe even make the decision to join you and quit too. Until then, WE are here for you and WE support you and WE are very proud of you! Take care, post often and check back soon!

Have you thought about a reward for getting through hell week?

Doing MUCH better now. Thank you all for your support - it does help!!! And it is true that if you can hold off for just a bit, and a bit more, and another five minutes... the cravings do go away. Sunshine, your idea is great - posting and waiting for five replies... that would take care of the cravings...
Be good, take care and N.O.P.E.
Cristina

Cristinas...Congrats to you!  Keep up the fight, you are doing fantastic!  I won't lie, this is a tough journey, but it is so worth it.  It does get easier as the days go by, but you have to want to fight the fight to get through the tough times.

I can relate to what you were saying with having no support.   The secret to success?  This website.  My husband doesn't ask about my quit unless I push him to or drop huge hints to direct him to and because I've quit in the past and started again, my parents don't believe my quit so they don't want to hear anything about it.  It does suck, BUT, coming here has been very inspirational and has been a HUGE help.  There is the quit meter that shows how well your doing, the craving diaries and threads.  Reading other peoples threads makes you realize that you are not alone and you can use them to vent, praise or brag.  It doesn't matter and nobody here will judge you.  They support.  When you do have a brutal fight with the "nicodemon", stand firm, post a thread or reply to one and wait for 5 responses.  By the time the 5 responses have come, your craving will be done.  Just remeber N.O.P.E. (Not One Puff Ever).  You are not alone on this.  Keep ice water by and sip, sip sip.  It does help with the craving.  Keep your game plan handy as to what you going to do to get through your craving and how you will reward yourself after you've gotten through your craving (whether it be a monetary reward or something as simple as taking a walk or a bubble bath!) and most important....why are you quitting!!

Keep it up.  I'm here for you.  We can go through our quit together since I'm still fairly new myself!

Sunshine

What a way to start your day!!! OK so this is day three of Hell week. It surely started like this. I have been good with changing my morning routine so far. Did not need to get rid of my morning coffee but I am having it after my exercise, shower, making lunches and stuff. When I set my start date I did on the 5th because I knew that my husband - smoker - will be away all week at a training course in Georgia. So I figured it would make things a tad easier not having to deal with the "why can't you come and sit with me while I'm smoking". And I know I was right! But he was aware that I will quit! Do you think for a second that I heard him once asking how it's going??? Oh no, it was all about the training, about how he's doing, about the weather... you name it! I am pretty short on patience to begin with. So now, with the changes going on, my fuse is even shorter!!! So this morning, I really could not cope with the lack of support anymore. And boy did I get in his face... Got madder than I thought I was capable of and told him everything I could about his selfishness... Hung up the phone, hyperventilanting... wanting SO bad to get a puff - just one... But I didn't!!! I DIDN'T!!! I turned on the computer and here I am, venting! Sorry! But it was the only alternative I had. Is it just me or it sucks when you don't have ANY support whatsoever??? Looking at the bright side - I made it. First real challenge and I made it. I am a non-smoker! Yay.
