Detox,
That's the amazing thing about everyone's quit.  Somewhere out of the blue something will come up to say "wow why did this come upon me I didn't expect this, should I postpone this quitting for another time".  Answer NO!.  Most of us get this when we quit.  Things happen in our life and normally the answer is to light up and think it's the logical solution to what's going on. What you will find is it really doesn't matter when you quit because there are always going to be these events that want us to give in and smoke as if that is going to solve the problem.  It really is about making the other choice to say no more smokes as an answer to the problem.  Once you can do it once then then next time you will be even stronger.  A good first line of defence is try to distract yourself when events come up that are wanting you to go back to smoke.  Go on a walk, take a swim in some cold water, walk around your block you live, do anything else than light a match or lighter.  Within   a short time you will find it goes away and you can continue being smoke free.  Don't let the nicodemon control you.  Put in your time and the nicodemon dies quickly.  Keep on keeping on. Ron

It is a bugger having to deal with situations now without having a smoke mask it.  I am still struggling with this.. not so much craves, but having to deal with situations and feelings.  Reward yourself for every tough situation you handle without a smoke, great job!

Thanks everyone !! For me it seems stress is the big enemy here....things have been going smoothly this past week and my quit has been going weel....but last night I had a personal whammy hit me....and then today a work one. Just felt like saying screw all this and just have a smoke. If there was a cigarette at home here last night I may well have smoked it...thank God there was'nt one here. I reminded myself that a smoke won't solve anything...but still...the temptation was there. When the going gets tough...I tend to crumble....I cop this attitude of "who cares !!!" Oh well...got to take this all as a learning experience....and keep my guard up....I'm no way out of the woods yet.
Thanks for the support....although my problems are still with me....I continue to be smoke free :)

Hi Everyone. It's been one hell of a struggle for me to get any length of time in being smoke free this summer. I set another quit date two weeks ahead of time and spent that time psyching myself out for the quit. The date was Sept. 1 and now Hell Week is behind me. It came to a point for me that I was disgusted with the smoking and what cigarettes were doing to me. I had the flu a month ago and I was smoking through that as well....they tasted horrible but I continued anyhow. I've developed a bad cough and it would wake myself and my wife up in the middle of the night. This has just got to stop....I think it has been helpful that I'm angry at the addiction and how much a slave I've become to cigarettes.
I'd like to thank everyone for their previous support....I can't tell you how much it bothered me when I would relapse....I would hate myself for giving in once again....and letting you great people down who are walking with me through this. Since my quit date I've been going through the forums here and doing lots of reading. I wanted to get some time in before posting again....I wanted to get Hell Week behind me....which it now is :)
   So....Heck Week....here I am !!!
Thanks Again everyone !!!!    I'll be posting and reading alot more !!!!
