Hi everyone. Thanks for all of your responses. Like Kelly, I'm sorry for everyone that has been touched by cancer, whether it be from smoking or otherwise. I guess it takes some pretty harsh lessons for us to wake up and take control of our health by quitting smoking. Keep the quit.

Thanks for the reminder, and I am sorry for all of you that have lost someone from smoking. My father died when I was nine, he was a heavy smoker, not sure if his cancer was caused by that or not. He was 27 when diagnosed and 39 when he died, I grew up cancer....you think I would have never started. May health and goodness be with all of us.

I know what your saying I lost my dad in 1984 from lung cancer he was only 52. I watch him die a slow painful death and I still went outside for a smoke. I have watch many of my family members suffer but I still kept smoking it was only when I began to struggle with my own health that I new I had no choice but to stop.

Please God we all stay well and keep our quit.

I think all of us have been touched by cancer in some way. I lost my late husband to smoking related cancer. I looked after him at home until the end and it is a terrible thing to go through. Still, after such a loss, family members continue to smoke, me included until two weeks ago. What does it take for the message to sink in?! I am in a new relationship and happy to say we have both joined the majority of non-smokers together! Lets all think healthy, wealthy and wise!!

Jazz thanks for sharing. It is an eye opener for many of us. My family history, two sister died of lung cancer and a brother of another type of cancer all smoking related didn't get me quit. It has made me quit time after time as you know. I am pretty sure I have damaged my body from smoking, but who knows maybe I will be one that is blessed. For for today my health is getting better, I breath better, I am eating better, and I am free for today.

Jazz you and you hubby are doing so great!! And you dog must be so happy too.

Hi everyone. I just had a big hug, and a teary chat with one of my co-workers. She was telling me how proud she is of Mr. J and I for keeping the quit. Her dad's just been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. He was a heavy smoker, quit for 5 years, then went back to it last year. They figure he has about 6 months. I hate to hear of anyone getting news like this. All the more reason to quit and stay quit I guess.........
