Nice to know I'm not the only one. Another thing that's been bothering me lately...I've been taking Metropolol (sp?) It's a beta-blocker to reduce my heart rate which used to be 100 and is now in the 50-60 range. It's doing it's job, but it scares me to have my heart rate beating 50-60 bpm. I'm a big guy, 5'11" and over 280 pounds, and it just doesn't feel right to have my heart beat that slow. This morning I had to get out of bed because I was feeling very strange. I took my blood pressure and pulse and they were 125/65 and 48 bpm. They've since gotten back into normal ranges since I've been up for awhile, but it's just nerve racking to be taking medication that controls my heart rate. It doesn't feel natural I guess. My doc says it's a good drug to stay on as it reduces the workload on my heart and allows me to get more oxygen. It's also been proven to prevent heart attacks which I guess is a great thing. Anyone know anything about beta-blockers out there or feel these same feelings about these meds?

Senzafine, Welcome to The Panic Center. We thank you for sharing your story with us today. This support group is full of supportive individuals who may be able to help you answer some questions regarding panic and anxiety. It is great to hear that you are making an appointment to see a doctor. In the meantime please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physicians advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When youre finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. We also have developed a Panic Program. This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. If you have any questions or concerns with our "TOOLS" you can contact our support department at support@paniccenter.net. Take care and we hope to hear from you soon. Welcome aboard Senzifine! I have trouble staying on a single thought, too! Sometimes I'll be sitting there thinking about something and my mind races to three or four other things all at once. I hate that! I think though that maybe it has something to do with the anxiety. A lot of people here say that they have a hard time quieting their mind so they can concentrate. Which makes it difficult to stop the racing thoughts of doom that have us all trapped in our anxiety - so much fun! ;) Hang in there - you're not alone!

Hey There, First Time Poster Here :) Anyways, I've been dealing with axiety for the last 6 months or so and have every symptom you can imagine (dizziness, chest pain, numbness/tingling, inability to concentrate, etc.) I've also been on anti-depressives for the last 4 years (Fluxotine and just recently I switched to Zoloft) My question for eveyrone out there is have any of you experienced difficulty thinking ahead? What I mean is when you start to think about the steps you can take to get yourself out of the current state you're in, your brain sort of shuts down and stops you in mid-thought? I've dealt with this for a long time now, at least a few years and I feel it really impairs my ability to move on in life. My brain doesn't seem to want to think past a few days in advance. I also have this problem when I think of those classic unanswerable questions like religion, the universe, evolution, and other huge topics that require deep thinking. Well, if any of you have experienced this, feel free to tell me all about it. And if not then I guess I'm just weird :) Thanks, Senza
