Ha ha, I`m a quitter too but can`t help smiling at those pathetic things we did to get a smoke except for me I didn`t care who or what I looked like long as I had my smoke. Made me smile reading them, almost made me go to the store to get some but I didn`t

I was trying to remember those days when I would roll out of bed put on a robe and walk out on the deck in the 20 degree weather to have a cigarette. How pathetic I was

I was trying to remember the day I ordered an expensive meal and had to go outside and be gawked at by all the non smokers looking out the window at me like I was some sort of animal. How pathetic I was

Now that I think of it.... It was pretty tough being a smoker.

Beckylynn I am just echoing everyone else really by saying change your routine. Like Miss Marple I changed my morning routing completely as to avoid the association with smoking, I too used to have my first one whilst waiting for the perc, and I had to switch everything round, it takes a day or so but you'll soon get used to it.

You're doing so great, dont deprive yourself of your coffee too.

Change routine, that is the key!

wakeup.. turn music on... anything you did not do before.

Take your food on a tray to some different place...

Dont stop, don't stop... go out and walk around the block.

cut sugars... sugars only makes you want to go up the walls... fruit...lots of watery fruits like melons, pineapple, oranges, water melon, star fruit.. what ever you have in your area.

Water has a great role when it comes to stop smoking.

dont forget that this is the best time to stop smoking... spring...summer.... all starts to come to life.... including YOU!

Mornings were hard for me as well. Had to shake up my routine. Usually sparked up a smoke first thing as I poured my coffee. Now I do a little yoga first thing, then coffee before a shower (or a walk or some other physical activity). With the coffee I now do word searches or easy crosswords to keep busy...or cruise the internet. Hang tough! You can do it.

Hey Beckylynn!!!

Glad to see you're back again!!! I know it's so very hard to keep from thinking about smoking in the first few days and even weeks when you quit!!! This is a very difficult process and you just have to stay focused!!! If you want this quit more than you want to smoke, you WILL succeed!!!

Keep telling yourself N. O. P. E. and do those deep breathing exercises and keep that ice water at your side!!! Try to find something to distract yourself, like reading older posts here that will further your motivation to protect your quit! Also, responding to posts here in support of your fellow quit buddies is an excellent way to reinforce your determination to make it through yet another day smoke free!!!

If you start thinking about smoking, keep telling yourself that you are now a NON-SMOKER!!! Mentally tell the nico-demon to be gone and that you are NOT going to lose another battle to him!!! Your Positive Mental Attitude will get you through anything if you keep telling yourself that you ARE stronger than the nico-demon!!!

I didn't want to give up cofee, but I have found it less appealig after my quit. I use to drink a lot of cofee, and now I switched my addiction to cranberry-pomegranate juice! I t happened, I didn't do it on purpose.

Well you are doing great! The first week is the worst ! Believe me, it gets better!! Your smoking toughts become less intense and frequent! Sometimes you can even laugh at them! (sometimes, I repeat,lol). If we can do it you can do it!
