Reward in advance???

15 years ago 0 706 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0

I have done the same thing also...  I feel that you should reward yourself in whatever way is best for you.  Not everyone is the same and not one program will suit everyone.  SO, enjoy your reward... AND your new non-smoking life!

I did the same thing. I about a month in rewards ahead of myself. I bought for my kids and grandkids instead of myself. When I catch up, all rewards will go to me!!

Wow, that's really interesting -- I did the same thing, too!
I'm now about a week ahead of myself, but it's made a huge difference.  It's like, "Dude.  You can't even think about cheating because you already spent the money!  You can't un-ring that bell."  Really works for me, but I thought I was the only one.

Good for you, your reward will remind you that if you were still smoking your money would just be going up in smoke!! and  you wouldn't have your new toy to play with

Keep strong and take it one hour, one day, or what every works best for you.

All the best Debby

Remember, too, your rewards don't have to cost a dime.

Take a long deep breath and exhale slowly without a rattle in your chest.  Converse with a non-smoking pal (yes, they have gossip, too!).  Enjoy the smells of life.  These, to me, are the rewards that justify the quit!

Keep your focus.  Read and Post often.  You can do this!

Wolf, that works!  Many people take their money saved and put it towards a trip.  I know one person who bought new golf clubs a month before his one year milestone.  Remember this quit is all about YOU!  Plan your rewards in a way that works for you.  Plus, if you get a reward in advance, that might keep you on track, knowing that you have to remain quit the whole week to pay for it!  P.S.  7 hours is AWESOME!  You gotta start somewhere!  One hour at a time, one day at a time!

The traditional reward systems in the past never worked for me, you know, after a week, I bought myself something with the money that I saved.  So this time, I did the opposite.  I quite 7 hours ago.  (I know, big deal, 7 hours!!!)  I bought a technogadget for myself, around the 50 dollar mark, knowing full well that this is what a week's worth of smoking would cost me.  So now, in my mind, I have my cigarette money spent.

Seems like a good idea right now, and hey, I got a new toy to play with!!!
