Will the Second week get any better?

Karen, hang on!
It gets better! You just have to take one smoking tought at a time! Be positive, and pamper yourself! Take a long walk, light scented candles, take a bubble bath, listen to relaxing music and smell your clothes, your hair,It's great to be smoke free!!!

Karen, not sure where you are in the US, but here in Ohio, the tulips, daffodils, and crocuses are starting to poke out of the ground.  I'm taking my dog for a walk every night looking for signs of spring!  Not only am I walking easier without huffing and puffing, but I can smell all the wonderful smells of spring!  This is my daily reward!  Have you rearranged the places where you used to smoke?  That may help with the urges.  You can get through this, just take it one smoke free day at a time!

Karen007,

It'll get better, don't give up!  Look how far you've come already, give yourself a nice reward, you deserve it!

How can you keep busy?  Perhaps, taking up a new hobby, redecorating your home, volunteering...members, have any other ideas?

You can do it!

Hi everyone, once again thanks for the support, We all need it.  I have to say for some reason I am finding it alittle tougher,It's been two weeks now.  Find it more difficult especially on my days off from work.   The urge always seems to be there in the background. Some days you feel lost with out the cig  I am exercising to keep my mind off things.  But then you get the commercials on TV in your face about smoking, when your trying not to think about it.  How is everyone else doing?  Is week THREE better ???  This is the furthest I have been without. Last time quit cold turkey, that didn't work of course.

Jodieh, sorry I missed you but I went to bed just before you posted this! Welcome to the site and many Congratulations on putting 10 Days under your belt!! Are you using NRT or the pill or the inhaler or just plain "cold turkey"?? Either way punch in your quit meter so you can see where you're getting more days accumulated... have you been reading around the programme for help about the cravings or the thoughts?? As you already know the members here are a fantastic group of people with miles of experience in the vagaries of Quitting. The biggest help for me was to come in here every morning and read and post and help other new people and try to answer questions and musings from members. Then I always kept iced water nearby to drink when I felt a thought becoming persistent!! Breathe slowly and deeply and focus your mind on the inflation and deflation of your chest as you do so and really feel the breath going in and out of your lungs... works wonders as a real physical reminder of how crazy it was to smoke!
