Yes, Miss Marple.  I was actually noticing that myself.... along with how much more I seem to be able to get done.  And I do smell better :)

This is starting to feel like Bridget Jones' Diary:

Friday night, and I am eating dark chocolate.  Feeling a little dire about how much money I have spent on my "rewards" this week.  My rewards and I will be sitting on a curb at the end of the month cuddling if I don't get a grip.  Reward tomorrow promises to be a hot bath and tea.

I swear, no more furniture.  Blast cute salesmen.  (Isn't that entrapment Miss Marple?)

On a serious note.  Today was better.  I wasn't as tired, and was able to handle work and the cravings fairly well.  I saw smokers today and instead of it triggering cravings, it triggered a lot of compassion.  It really is miserable and they really didn't look like they were enjoying anything.

I'm on firmer ground today.  Who the heck knows what tomorrow will bring.  If I'm allowed a tomorrow, I promise it will be smoke-free.

Thanks for being my cheerleaders today guys (Marvini, Rock, Mr. Q, and Miss Marple).  Mr. Q you have always inspired me, and I'm proud to have you still as my quit buddy.  Marvini, you are so strong and positive.  It's such a pleasure to meet you and have your inspiration too.  And Rock, you have really moved forward with incredible strength.  And Miss Marple, you are my lost twin somewhere out there in the US.

Hey, Deb!  You are doing great and I am sure you can see the benefits already.  Smell your clothes...isn't it great that you don't smell like stale smoke?  On really cold days (like today), I enjoy sitting in my warm office and look out the window at the poor addicts freezing their tush's off for a cig!  Recovery IS painful, but the resulting growth and enlightenment is astounding.  I think quitting, for me, has been such a spiritual experience.
Five days down!    Be nice to yourself

Your doing great my friend.  The thoughts in your head today were right on one account.  You don't need to keep suffering.  It's rough in the beginning but after awhile it will be at best a whisper in the wind.  That's when the suffering really stops.

I'm glad your reading Allen Carr.  That book helped me a lot.  One thing that really hit me was his line "You don't feel this way because you quit smoking, you feel this way because you started smoking."  Keep pushing and pushing Deb.  You're doing awesome.

Deb, glad to hear that all is well.  Taking it one day at a time is the best way to fight the nicodemon!  In alot of situations, "no pain, no gain" is the mantra.  I don't see it talked about very much in the quest for non-smoking, but it does fit in here.  There is pain.  Physical pain of fighting the addiction, your body wants the nicotine and hurts if it doesn't receive it.  There is mental pain.  The stress, the triggers, the saying "NO", the decisions not to smoke while fighting the urges.  But as you know, the temporary inconvience does in fact lead to permanent improvement.  And that is what your quit is all about!  You're doing great!  Just say NOPE!

Hi Deb!!!
You are doing great!! I know how you feel; I felt like you the first four days. I slept most of the first two days of my quit (thank God I quit on Friday). I was energy drained; I couldn't even talk (my husband was really happy with this side effect of the quit, lol).
Hang on, you are almost nicotine free. This is the hardest week. You know that it gets better; Imagine you caught the flu;
you can't do nothing about it;just drink water and fluids and it will pass!!!!!
Hang on!!!

Here for my daily check-in.  Once again, I really wanted to get online today at work, but couldn't.

And once again, thank you all for posting.  It helps me tremendously.  Thanks for your advice Marvini-- you're doing really well!  And it was great to hear from you Jan.  I've missed you!  And Karen, Hell week can't be over too soon!

I'm nearing the end of day 4 (tomorrow is day 5) and it was the hardest day yet today.  I felt very weak many times today and at one point had the thought, 'you can just run down to the store!  You don't have to keep suffering.'  I didn't, but really wanted to.  My mantra to all of my mental arguments in favor of smoking is always the same, 'no.'  Short and simple-- doesn't take too much energy because I really don't have any to spare.  I just go with that.

It was definitely a day where I feel like I've been fighting a battle all day.  I'm tired.  I've reached the point where I've hit the wall, but am continuing on anyway.  Recovery stuff is painful work at times.  Smoke hides a lot of feelings, pushes people away, numbs us out-- lots of stuff.  Besides withdrawal, there are things that one just has to face because there is no smoke there to hide behind..... so it was also an introspective day I guess.

It's weird, but my body actually hurts like it's been fighting a battle.

I'm going to go crawl into bed with Mr. Allen Carr.  How romantic is that?

Please keep writing to me-- it is really keeping me going and the going is getting pretty rough.

love u guys
deb
