Hey Kodiak! I see they have a new TV commercial saying that the average smoker tries at least eight times to quit! I think I quit 703 times. You can make this your final quit quite easily. Close the door behind you and never look back! Make the decision that you will never put a cigarette to your lips again, Not One Puff Ever! You have the right attitude and you know that giving in, takes you right back to hating it, and starting over. You are right. It is time to get off the treadmill. You have almost a month under your belt, so that worst is over. But please prepare for unexpected moments, bad days, stress etc etc.
Have your arsenal pf tools ready and waiting, just in case, candy, gum, straws, licorice, cold water, and chocolate always works! Remeber self talk and deep breathing! Realize that you are an addict, and as such you can never have a drag of a cigarette ever again! (Reread that last sentence!) That is all it takes to be free, forever, being aware and being prepared!
Congratulations on quitting and clink! Here's to staying smoke free forever!

Kodiak, Alexander Graham Bell didn't invent the phone on the first try. The Wright Brother's first plane didn't fly. Edison's first light didn't work. The first time I got on a bike I didn't pedal more than 2 feet before the I wiped out! But none of us gave up! We've taken what works and what doesn't work and applied it to our next tries. I can ride a bike now! You've learned that you had luck with the patch, so congratulations for using it again! You also know you have to be careful to protect your quit. I think this is WONDERFUL! And you are doing WONDERFUL! And to make sure you are prepared for everything this quit may throw your way, please make sure you've gone through "my program" so you are 110% prepared for this! You can reply to one of Mr Ed's posts and ask him to add you to his daily stat lists so you can see your
"name in lights" when you reach a milestone! We're all rooting for your continued success!

I have been lurking around this site for the past few months, not wanting to post till I had a month under my belt with some confidence that I will succeed...again. You may notice from my join date that I have been here before. Yes, I have quit before...many, many times. So many that I have lost count. In fact, in December alone I think I quit 6 times from one hour to 4 days, but always chickening out. After reading Alan Carr's book, yet again, the deal was sealed. I told myself not to be afraid and to JUST DO IT. And I have.
I am using the patch again. I have always had good success with it. I do have to be careful when I stop using it because I have had a few failed attempts at weaning myself too quickly. I am not worried, just careful to protect.
During my last quit, I learned many things about how to live life free of nicotine. One of the most important lessons I learned is that it was good to be free, and that going back to smoking was the worst decision I could have made. I have been at this quitting thing for far too many years. I just want to be quit! not wishing I could. It is a viscious cycle and I for one, am getting off this treadmill to nowhereville. There is only one path and that is the top of quit mountain. Thanks for being here. There is strength in numbers.
