Hello Peanut,

Welcome to our wonderful support community and congrats on making the decision to kick the habit!

You have reached a great place for support, encouragement and wisdom and members are always willing and happy to share tips and suggestions on helping you through your journey.

Please do review the program and tools available to you. You will need to create effective strategies to help you deal with or avoid triggers as well as a reward plan to celebrate various milestones. Planning and preparation is really the key to beating this addiction.

Please post as often as you need to and set up your quitmeter as well to show off your stats!

Good luck and stay strong,

Thanks!  It's a nickname my father gave to me when I was very young.  He's been gone for almost 22 years now and I miss him still so very much.  I thought I'd use the name he gave me so that when I succeed and become a non-smoker, I'll know that he would be really proud of me.

I picked up some Commit lozenges that I'm going to give a try.  I want to be one of the people on here who are quit for over a year!  I quit successfully for 3 months a while back (started back for stupid reasons) and now I'm "back on the horse" as the saying goes.

I'll be here often.

Thank you for the welcoming support.

Hi there Peanut!  Congratulations on making the decision to quit smoking.  Please don't be scared.  We're all here to help each other!  Now we all know from experience that preparation is the key to success.  I'm glad you finished all of the questionaires under "my program".  Make sure you have a good reward system in place as you need to reward yourself for fighting every craving and making it through a whole day without smoking.  We celebrate all of our milestones, 1 craving, 1 day, 1 week, and lots of other big dates!  Read, read, and read some more!  Are you using a NRT like Chantix or the patch or are you going cold turkey?  Use the search feature on this site to read about member's experiences.  Add your quit meter to your posts under "my profile" so you can see your progress and so we can cheer you on!  For me personally, drinkings lots of iced water and eating carrot sticks the first week helped during a craving.  Others have put together a crave cart of baby carrots, licorice, pretzel sticks, peppermints, and similar types of items to help during cravings.  Post as often as you need.  We're all rooting for your success!!!

Hi Peanut! Good move working through the program. Those who seem to have the easiest time quiting are the ones who best prepared before. This is not easy but sure worth it. The SSC will definately help you along. Give it your best shot!

Hi there.  I've just finished working through the program and I have just one cigarette left in my pack.  I'm scared to death but determined to quit.  I just wanted to say hi.
