  1. Hi Dave
  2. I'm  on the fiftht day of my life as a non smoker, and as of today, I'm feeling all right; the first two days were awful; I had no energy so I spent the weekend in bed (I imagined I had the flu) listening to relaxing music; I'm on Chantix right now and I attended the Allen Carr seminar. So I'm ready to fight my demons and all the ilussions and misunderstandings that we have about cigarretes; they are not our friends, they do not give us support, or power, or energy. They are assasins that we hire to kill us; they are good at what they do, they disguise themselves as best friends.
  3.    So  quitting we are chosing life and freedom. I don't want to bee seen as third class citizen becaause of my nicotine addiction, and I'm tired of skipping the after diner conversations because I need as cigarrete.
  4. I want to become a non smoker not an ex-smoker
  5. Congratulations, you are three days ahead of me!!!

Dave- well done on making it through Hell week, although you may not think it now you have just done the hardest bit and it does get steadily easier now day by day.
Those days will soon be clocking up behind you and if I could only show you how much all this is worth it to gain the complete freedom from the addicition I would.
The dependancy on nicotine will by now have left your system however, the psychological habit is harder to get rid of- so as all those below say, the key is changing behaviours and using distraction methods.
You sound so positive Dave that I am sure you will succeed, but hang out here often- we are a sure fire distraction if nothing else!!! well done Dave- keep on going.

hello dave
it's great to have you here.you and i are the same age and share some of the same interests , golf and quiitting smoking.this is a great place for tips and moral support . you've made it through the toughest part , so kind of compare it to finishing a round strong after surviving some tough holes.
stick to the basics , deep breathing , ice water , think of the benefits of being smoke free , and read and post often.
just like golf , fairways and greens will get you where you want to be.

stay in touch pal,
mike / astrofan
