Too funny!  I also remember those days.....  It's rather upsetting when your new baby gets those first few shots, but it does get easier to endure as they get older.  In fact, by the time they are a teenager, you may be the one wanting to administer the shot, with a higher caliber than any skinny little needle could hold!!!
Plenty of time to prepare for that, so I won't go into any horror stories!  Heehee...
Excellent job in staving off those cravings.  That's an awful lot of work and emotional stress just for you to smoke!  Keep up the good work, Valic!

I agree with HP that you need a reward for surviving today's cravings!  CONGRATULATIONS!  I also think you need to reward your son since he helped you fight the craving!  :)  I LOVE the steps you would need to take to buy a pack of butts!  I am putting on my Six Sigma hat and trying to process map using modelling software the steps.  (sorry, the technology geek sometimes takes over my mind!)  And as they say here, when you have a craving, post here.  It all works!  Congratulations again for surving today!

Good job! I love all the negative reinforcement in your head about running out for a pack. That is a good way to talk yourself out of a crave!

You haven't said if you have rewarded yourself for all this great quitting you are doing. Don't forget!!
Be sure to plan those rewards.... it's such a great incentive!

good luck and keep hanging in there!

best,

valic,

I am sorry to hear today was harder for you. However, you did not give in and that is incredible!

By reflecting on what it would take to smoke again, it really seems like you are well on your way to a successful quit. Continue to read through the posts and ask other members for advice when you need it. We are all here for you!

Hee, hee, hee!  I remember those days well.  The sheer pain in the arse of it all will get you through a crave in no time!  Even though mine are older, I kind of have the same issue now.  They'll grumble because they have to stop what they're doing, put on their shoes and get in the car and go "for a quick run" with Mom.  Then my 8 and 6 year olds will look at me knowing what I'm up to!  The guilt!!

Hang in there!  You're doing great.

Thanks everyone for the awesome support. Today was tougher than yesterday for some reason :o(    But I didn't give in. I had to take Orion (my son) to the doctor for his 4 month check up.  He is doing great but he did have to have some shots. It is always hard to see him cry does that get any easier over the years? lol.    But I gave him some tylenol and he is sleeping now. So what happened? In the middle of folding laundry and a crave hits. So here I am. Now no body panic (especially me). I have no way of getting any cigerrettes. If I wanted to get cigs right now I would have to pack up the baby ( and any mother knows you do NOT wake a sleeping baby) put on his hat which is never easy and jacket which is even harder get the car seat from upstairs bring it down. Put a blanket or two over him because its cold here in Mass. strap him in which he absolutely hates! and then get myself ready. Then I would have to carry him out to the car and he is heavy in that thing. Strap in the car seat, drive down to the store in 6 pm traffic with a screaming baby (and he would be screaming). Park the car, take Orion into the store with me (again that thing weighs a ton) all for a lousy pack of butts. Wait in line with a screaming baby buy the pack drive home unpack Orion and myself. Then I would have to wait for him to sleep again to even smoke. Top that off that the minute my husband comes home and kisses me (no amount of brushing or mints ever worked) he is going to know that I blew my quit and he may not say it but I know he will be very dissappointed in me. So none of it is worth it and I think I will stay in my nice warm house leave my sleeping baby where he is, and post and read. This crave will go away in fact it already has!  So thanks everyone for listening and letting me vent and I hope I did this in the right spot. Now I am going to read some posts for a bit before getting dinner ready or the baby wakes up. Have a great night and bring on day 4! ~Valic

Hi Valic,

Congrats on a fantastic job at keeping yourself distracted to strengthen your resolve to stay quit!

You've got the right attitude and before you know it you will be through Hell Week!

Post as often as you need to and keep reinforcing all the good reasons for you to be a non-smoker!
