whatever works

Great Job AC!!!  It's not easy but in the beginning the cravings can be almost unbearable and don't hesitate to use all your thoughts to overcome.  I had a lot of rewards in the beginning to pull me through.  Small things but almost daily.  I did whatever I wanted to do within reason as long as it wasn't smoking.  I spent more than I was saving by not smoking in the beginning but I looked at it as a long term investment.  I knew that after a year or so I probably wouldn't even be thinking about smoking anymore and I'll save at the very least over $100,000 in the long term by not smoking.  So I too looked at it as a do whatever it takes type event.  Keep up the great work.

Nice choice AC! Which helped with the crave better, the drive, the dark chocolate or the shopping? All 3 at once? Some other permutation? (oooh, thats a good word!) That way, when it hit again, you can jump right in to what made it pass the quickest. BTW, I am a Dark Chocolate fan. I have a Hershey's special dark bar hidden way back in the freeze for an emergency crave....

AC, wow!  What a way to fight a craving!  That sneaky nicodemon tried to pull you back, but you held him off.  For alot of people, Heck week is tougher than Hell week.  Glad you were able to grocery shop instead of smoke!  Some people have posted that when they have a huge craving they cleaned their oven, or cleaned the house, or something to else to keep the crave.  Whatever it takes!  N.O.P.E.

Hi msreader1  Good for you not caving to the craving. At 9 days I was curled up on the couch in the fetal position , just couldn't deal with it. Reward yourself for not giving in. Think of how good you're going to feel in a short while. You know you've already made it. Don't forget the cold water. Wash those craves away. So proud of you for not smoking !  breather 58 Addict 0

Really, really wanted a cigarette before bed tonight.  Then decided that if I couldn't have a cigarette, I wanted some Oreo cookies and milk.  But I was out of Oreos and milk.  So I made a trip to the market at 9:00 pm.  After spending $115 I got home and decided just to have a glass of caffeine free diet coke and two squares of dark chocolate.  It worked.  Went through a heck of a lot of trouble but did not smoke...and I got my shopping done!
