Sometimes it happens that people go back to their addictions. They help others but just can't seem to help themselves. We hope that someday they'll decide to come back. Some powerful post here. breather breathing better.

Hang in there Lil!  Time is the best thing for any quit.  I remember going through a rough patch around 50 - 60 days.  It eventually went away.  I kept repeating...THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY...ONLY TEMPORARY!  And it was.  Now if I think about smoking, its only a fleeting thought.  I still live each smoke free day by the Grace of God, because that damn "nicodemon" is a sneaky, heartless wee fiend.  I hope never to become overconfident in by quit.  GUAAT - guard up at all times!
I hope your dog issue works itself out.  Our oldest beagle has the tendancy to be aggresive.  Not so bad now, she's 9.  They were hard work as pups though.  I've heard that beagles are.  But everything's work itself out.
Our daughter and her hubby live about 1 1/4 hours north of Toronto.  We live just west of Toronto, so its not too far a distance, 1 1/2 hours for us.
My hubby is third generation Canadian and he loves potato scones.  I'm still trying to get him to try the haggis...for the past 28 years!!!!!  No luck yet.   Ah well, all the more for me.

Keep going strong,

Jan

Thank you ... it has been a struggle, especially lately but I'm hanging in there ... just!  As for the hairy hound ... well, things are NOT going well, we rescued him from the local animal sanctuary and he is a lovely dog, mostly ... but he is VERY aggresive with other dogs and this is causing me major stress. His fate is hanging in the balance and will be decided in the New Year pending some kind of training classes for him and for us ... I am not ready to quit (on the dog) just yet ... but he is causing a world of problems within the harmony of the home ... I knew I should have got a gold fish!!!!

How is your Grandson? ... do they live quite far from you?

Luv Lil x

P.S  I LOVE tattie scones ... my husband hates them ... but this just makes them all the tastier to me!!!!!!

Lil,
Congratulations on 50 smoke free days.  Even though you may not feel it at timesduring the quitting process, your doing fantastic!!!!!
I've been away from the site for a few days visiting our new wee grandson.
And now I see you've got a hairy hounds.  We have two hounds - not hairy ones - just howling ones.  Howling beagles...and they're the loves of my life...along with the new baby.  I'm a happy granny...a happy haggis eating granny!!!!!
And speaking of all things Scottish and wonderful...I've still to get the Wullie book for this year's Christmas.  We have a few places in and around Toronto to get the Wullie and Broons' books.  Haggis and tattie scones are a bit easier to get...local Scottish bakery.  YUM!!!!

Keep that quit going strong Lil!!!!!

Dear Lil,

I cannot believe that I missed your SOS, except that I was not sitting for long on site, just checking in now and again.
You had great support from everyone else though, and I promise I had not forgotton you.  In fact I was beginning to worry about where you were!

You have battled through and won!  Your sister's visit must have been a bit difficult.  I remember my first heavy smoker coming to visit after I had not long quit.  I did not insist that they smoke outside, gave them ashtrays etc. and after that I reckoned I could put up with anything!  (I also had the odd wee inhale of a freshly lit fag just for fun!)

I don't want to put you off such huge success, but there will be times ahead, (certainly not as strong,) when you will have the odd manic moment.....really craving a cigarette.  Those moments do get less and less, but they can pop up quite unexpectedly.  Just have your coping strategies ready in a convenient corner, and you will win through.
You are one seriously strong lady, and I have complete faith in you.

Now, do NOT let your new hairy hound win any arguments!  I'm a dog trainer, and they must not win, so you need to be strong here too.  Have you watched the dog whisperer?  It may be a bit extreme, but some of it works so easily.  You are alpha!

Lecture over.....stay strong!

Love Lolly.

So glad you are back with us Lil.  Ben Franklin said that fish and visitors both stink after 3 days, so I can understand your situation, especially if your sister smokes as much as you say!  Congrats on 50 days!  And yes, I am back in states, got to sleep in my bed for 1 night before I took off for Atlanta.  I'm here in Atlanta until Friday.  Next week I'm in Phoenix for 3 days, then I finally get back to Columbus next Wednesday  I'll unpack, download my pictures, and share some when I am back in the land of sanity.  Here's to the next 50 days, and beyond!

There you are!!!
I've been so worried about you!!! Don't you disappear like that again without fair warning, young lady!
Now that you've been duly chastised, congrats on reaching the cruise ship!  And don't you be flirting with the sailors!  To what exotic port are you heading?
Things at home are the usual....busy, dramatic, etc...
I, for one, am so glad your company is gone.  And what's this about a hairy hound?  Has the Lil family a new addition
