I Lost IT

I guess that is why N.O.P.E. is such a must around here.  I know myself well enough to know that i am not an occasional smoker and never could be.  Thanks for the input gang.

Bonnie...Hope you are OK

Hotsi, Kaiser and Sparky---you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo right.  I blew a 16 month quit with just one, another a few days later, two the next and soon I was buying a pack, then a carton.  I was right back to two packs a day in no time!  I have decided that I am either a smoker or a non-smoker.  Period.  I have known some fair-weather smokers or those that only smoke when drinking......but they are few and far between.  I am an addict.

Hey Moss..

Like Kaiser said...  you don't want to know!  You already know!   Read Bonnie's story, and Sparky's and the many others who have recently caved and come back!  I also went through it!  I was in the middle of a quit last year and after 3 months I was at a bar and I had one.  All was well and good until the next week and I was at the bar again.  Yup, I had another.  No problem, I thought!!!  Well, I really looked forward to the next Friday after work!!!  Two that night!!!  Hey!!!  King of the world here!  I could have one or two at the bar!!!  Until the next Wednesday...  3 that night and Friday I bought that pack!!!

Once you think you have it licked and can actually tempt fate, you're a gonner!!!  Learned my lesson real well last year!  Like Kaiser said.... NOPE,    NOPE      HELL- NOPE!!!!

Moss:
A while ago I blew a 100 day quit and it went something like this.  around a campfire I was offered a cigarette.  I figured I had this quit licked and that one would not hurt me.  Later that evening I accepted another and then I went out and bought a pack.  I stayed away from this site out of shame for quite a while and finally came back because I needed to talk to some one who knew what is was like.  The quit that I am into now is a cold turkey quit and was, and still is sometimes, harder than the first. I guess what I am trying to say is that YES, JUST ONE CAN SET YOU BACK TO THE BEGINING BEFORE YOU KNOW WHAT HAS HAPPENED.  REMEMBER NOPE, NOPE, NOPE.

First of all Bonnie so glad to see that you have set another quit date.  Just prepare like you did when you quit the last time.  Nothing will change, you will deal with withdrawal, but this time you will know what is going on.

Smoking one or two can set you back.  The nicotine is back in your body and will scream all the way out.  I know.  Plus if you have one or two and quit again, great, but for me the fact is one puff always and has lead me to a full blown smoker.  I HATE this darn addiction.  So if you are thinking you can, don't.

Bonnie I am wishing you all the best.  I know you can do this.

Moss,

I think you could get pretty use to smoking again rather quickly.  That first smoke that you have, as awful as it may taste, will make the next one impossible to avoid, then the next one and the next, and there you go full circle. You shall avoid giving in, that is unless 1) you like the torture or excitement that quitting brings or 2) you accept that you will perpetually continue the quitting process.  It’s no secret many of us liked to smoke; I loved smoking, not anymore. Don’t have it as part of your life, and you will realize that you don’t miss it and then that it no longer comes to mind.

You can get there, you know that is what you want and what you have to have.
Stickin

Hi Bonnie.....

I was thinking to myself the last few days what Jim said.  Having a few smokes can't set you back like you were a full blown smoker again.  Or can it?  I can't imagine it would be like starting all over again.  I think this is a question we all wonder about.  Perhaps you could let us know what it has been like when you stop again.  I'm not asking because I want to find out for myself if I can try it but I sure would like to know if a few cigs can set you back to where we were as full time smokers.

Thanks for sharing Bonnie.

Hey everyone,   THANK YOU from the bottom, middle and top of my heart .   I haven't been on line much over the weekend.   Our youngest grandson  just turned 6 and his party was on Sunday.

I went the whole weekend without smoking,  I did have a couple today.  SO  I am know what I will be doing, and I will have my trusty water bottle with me again.  I dropped that habit.. Cold water, ... water does help.  I am not going to use the Chantix this time.  I am thinking of getting some Committ lozenges when I go to tow tomorrow. I alctually only had a couple really strong craves. and I got through them.. So actually I am planning on tomorrow....

 HAPPY BIRTDAY DEB....

love and hugs to all......   I will go beyond 9 months this time...

Bonnie
