I CAN'T STAND THIS.......

Hi Stormy.....I know you are right....I just haven't felt this helpless since I quit. I thought I would be much stronger that I feel. (what's up with that?) It's funny, I am giving other new quitters the same advise I should be taking, but its easier said than done. How long will this struggle go on for?

Ziggy, trust me when I tell you that your definately not alone. I can say that overall, it does get better and I know this is just one of those crappy moments. I can remember my 7 day quit like yesterday. I have to say you are officially through hell week. Heck week will be easier than hell week was. Remember why you quit in the first place. All of our reasons are different and important to us in different ways. (I supposte I should take my own advise huh? LOL LOL LOL)

If you do gain weight, so what!!! You still accomplished quitting smoking. I actually read some where and got reiterated (spelling?) by others that the weight gain someone would have after quitting smoking is only on average between 5-10 lbs. I think it all depends on what you eat while you quit. If you go for the fruits and veggies, make it fun. Use the fruit to make your favorite flavor smoothies, or if its the veggies that are your thing, make a low calorie dip to have with it!

How are you quitting....the patch, cold turkey, chantix?

Ah yes, how well I remember that attitude, but "drop it"? Really??? It seems like when it rains, it pours, huh. You know, sometimes you just need that good cry, so go ahead bawl away,

I'll lend you my shoulder to cry on, because I DO understand. Things will even out and get better, I promise. Don't let that junkie thinking trick you. You know how devious it can be. I'm sorry you're getting slammed with so many different things at once. Just keep in mind that smoking a cigarette won't change a thing, it won't make the problem go away. This is only temporary, and just look, you have 42 days under your belt, that's fantastic. Hang in there, you're almost there!!

I really don't know what to say to help you. I am pretty much in your same boat today. I feel your pain and understand your justification statements. I am freaking out today too. Mostly about getting fat. I don't want to gain weight and I HATE exercising. This whole thing stinks. I quit drinking over a year ago and now this. I know it is the best thing but it sure would be nice to have a beer and a cig! I feel a little better just venting and knowing that I'm not alone.

I have been smoke free for 42 days and for some reason, today feels like day 1.

I can't stand it. Everyone keeps says post when you feel this way, so I am. I have been doing nothing but crying (in front of my husband and kids, but stopped doing that after my husband told me to drop my attitude. Now I just leave the room and cry).

I got a phone call last night from my mom saying she just found out she has been having micro strokes. Also, she needs to have a ultra sound on her left breast because there seems to a pain there (its probably nothing, but your mind just can't help but think the worst!) Nice way to flare up cravings huh? And if that is not bad enough, all of my guilt feelings came back because when my parents moved from Chicago down to Florida to retire (which is where I was living for almost 20 years), I moved up to Ohio 6 weeks after they got there (it is sooooooo much cheaper up here......colder, but cheaper!). Now, I want

to be back in Florida with her if anything, for moral support. Then, just to put icing on my cake, my freakin' dryer broke this morning! I know, the dryer thing doesn't seem that monumental, but today it seems like it. AAAAHHHHHH! I can't stand this.

This past Saturday, I stepped down on my patches from 2 to 3. I am now on a 7mg but feels like I'm wearing nothing. I have started catching myselft justifying smoking. The latest reasoning was......well, "we are all going to die of something" or well, "I quit for this long once, I can do it again". I hate this feeling and I'm angry at myself for starting to smoke all those years ago.

Sorry if I sound like a whiny baby.
