Please remember that we are not here to judge. Many of us, myself included, have had problems with our quit. The worst thing that i did was to go away any beat myself up after my slip. I was ashamed to come back to this group. That was a mistake on my part. I was welcomed back with open arms. remember that we have all been where you are at one time or another. Please stay close and know that we are here when you need us, ready and willing to help in any way me can.

Goodness gracious! Thank goodness I've had too much to drink or I'd be trying to drive to the store for a smoke! I know better---there are extra patrols out through the 31st looking for folks like me!

Sparky: My dearest BFVF (that's best friend virtually forever) I know you want to beat this addiction, and, when you are truly ready and determined, you will. I know it and everyone else knows it....you just don't know it....yet. Keep on trying. I talked with someone yesterday who is 82 years old and began "quitting" at 43. After 11 attempts, they were successful and have been quit since age 62---twenty years ago. Still spry and active---it gives me, and a lot of us here, hope. We will be here for you for every quit attempt you make. Don't wait too long. I love ya!

Lady CV: What a classy lady you are, indeed. What a terrible ordeal you are facing as the "evil ex". Bless you for your tolerance and understanding of your ex and his family. I will say an extra special prayer for you tonight. You, your children, your ex and his family have a very rough road ahead. It's not easy, I know, but it can be the most rewarding sweet losses to see a loved one exit the world with the ones that mean the most close by.

And God: Now that I am back with SSC, don't think I'm looney when my prayers include CVDEB, Ladycigevictor, Sparky, Kristilu, CT and GodsPromise....you know who they are and I'm not making this stuff up!

Sparky my friend,
I am sorry you are smoking again. Please forgive me for giving you some tough love here. Life isn't always easy, and as non smokers we have to learn to deal with what life throws at us without lighting up. The good, bad and ugly scenerios can get any of us at any time if we don't stay vigilant with this addiction. I've certainly had my share of failed quits until I finally made up my mind to change my behaviour and reach for life instead of a cigarette when things were dicey.

My hope for you is that one day soon you'll find ways to cope with life's problems without reaching for a smoke. It can be done. When you've really made up your mind to do it, I have faith that with your determination you will succeed.

I have my own version of good bad and ugly today....please allow me to share it with you and know that it's meant to help you.

The good: I will never smoke again. Ever. For any reason. It's not an option. I'm a non smoker. N.O.P.E.

The bad: Yesterday I was sitting in the waiting room at the hospital giving my daughter some emotional support. My ex-mother-in-law came in and asked me personal questions. I told her the truth. She said I was a bad person for leaving her son and denied he had any problems. She told me I was the one with problems. I thanked her for her opinion and told her I knew he was a good man who'd lived his life the way he wanted to. I gave her my condolences that he was ill and told her she'd raised a wonderful son.

The ugly: My ex has cancer of the throat and tounge that has metastesized and today the doctors gave him 2 days to 2 months to live. He probably wanted to go outside the hospital for a smoke to cope with this devastating news and I hope someone was kind enough to take him. I think he'd like to have a drink too, but he chokes and coughs up blood when he swallows too much so I doubt he'd manage to finish one.

I'll be here to help you in any way I can Sparky. You can do this. I have faith in you. Don't give up.

The Good: My trip to see the kids was okay, with one BIG exception and I will explain later. I sure did enjoy seeing the boys. The baby wasn't to sure about us when got there, but was smiling like crazy when we left.

The Bad: MOTHER-IN-LAW!!!!

Some of you will remember my trip out there in May to help out with the baby when our daughter had to return to work; she (MIL) and I had one BIG blow up. Well she is living there now, not for long, but she was there

There are way to many things that took place and I really don't want to rehash it.

The Ugly: you got it I am smoking. I told husband I either buy cigarettes or I was going to serious harm to her. He understood. I know it may sound like a lame excuse, but guys I had to do something. I did not want to get into with her again. Last May was enough, plus she is living there and we were visitors and I didn't want my grandsons to see me loose it and it would have been ugly, so I walked and gave in and bought cigarettes.

Not sure what I will do for now. But I will not bother you guys for awhile until I have some sense of where I want to go on this journey. I have battled so very long and I am tired. I wish you all the best.
