Hi Pet,

Glad to hear things are going well. The sleep stuff is common. They say it's that your getting more oxygen and that makes you feel more rested even though you aren't sleeping as much. On other quits I didn't know this and freaked out because I was getting 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night not knowing why and perceiving that things were horrible. This time around I read it and easily accepted it and enjoyed having some alone time in the morning....It tapers off after a month or so....Believe me I'm back to my lazy ways of "Hey, wake up, you've got like 20 minutes to get to work." lol.

With regards to the real world everybody's different. Take your time. Get some time under your belt and when your ready you'll know. Better to leave the world behind for a few months and come back then to soak yourself in the real world your whole life and leave 10 years early..

Hi Pet, you are doing great, everytime you have a crave and don't give in you have WON the battle. I remember going to bed early alot in the begining of my quit, you just do whatever it takes to hang on to your precious quit.

I think I back on track. I have not been sleeping good since I stopped, having lots of dream, sleeping few hours and waking up.

I only slept 4 hours before my bad day I guess it did not help.

When does the sleep patern gets better??? On all my other quits I always slept more.

Hi Petruchi well I think it was a good thing that you did not go out to the bar, That is a big trigger it was for me and I went right back to smoking it was one of my many failed attemps to quit. Try to stay away from bars for a while, untill you get stronger when you know how to handle it. Hope this helps

Hi Pet

I am an oldie who is just dropping by. Hope you are doing okay. Those REALLY BAD craving days are awful but they do go away.

I have to admit that I had to make some major lifestyle changes when I first quit smoking. I started spending alot more time in non-smoking places and with non-smoking friends. I didnt drink much the first few months. It was much easier to be a non-smoker in Canada in the winter because the smokers all had to go out in the snowstorms while I got to stay in warm. Now the first summer surrounded by smokers outside was sometimes rough but the next summer was much easier. I can honestly say that now there are some smoking thoughts but I cant remember the last REALLY BAD craving day. (I hope that helps...see it really DOES get better!!) And.....your life will come back together....maybe not exactly the same way it was but hopefully in an even better way.

Hi Pet, hows today doing?? well done on handling the bar situation the other day- and if eating chocolate helps, then eat chocolate, deal with one thing at a time-you are doing so good- hang on in there every day is a day closer to your success.

Petruchki,

You've received some great support from your fellow members here. When the cravings are strong your Emergency Coping Plan found in your Toolbox and remember the 4 D's; Drink water, Distract, Deep Breath and Delay. Making a list of all of your reasons for quitting is also a great motivator. We also suggest thinking about all of the benefits you've noticed thus far.

Hi Petruchki some days are just really bad but there are good days and I swear to you the craves are alot less and different as time goes on. Seems that bars and smoking kind of go together so you really did probably make the right choice by not going.
