Hello OWB!!!

By all means, if the alcohol is a trigger for you, STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!   Secondly, where the hell are you getting the cigarettes???   GET RID OF THEM... RIGHT NOW!!!

I am also wondering why you are cutting down on the Chantix!!  It IS a 12 week program, so why are you cutting down with less than a month under your belt....   minus a couple of "slips"???  Unless there are some medical reasons for cutting down, I would recommend that you go through the whole 12 weeks, since you seem to be craving and caving!!!

To be successful in this journey, you have to be committed to the quit!  You HAVE to do everything in your power save your quit!  If you do not have that mindset, your quit is in jeopardy!!!  Commit and do what it takes to get the job done!!   Get rid of any more cigarettes!!  Remove your ashtrays!!  Stay away from the alcohol!!!   Follow the recommended Chantix program!!!  Read and learn from this site and the experience of quit buddies here!

We're all behind you and are really pulling for your success!!!  You're also right...  we won't ever judge you or your decisions!!!  Some of us may give you some serious things to think about, though!!!

   Keep telling yourself N. O. P. E. !!!!

Sorry I haven't been around much, but that just means I've been able to keep myself busy. So it's been good. Still going strong, a couple of craves but nothing too major. Heading to bed earlier than normal so i'll stop back by in the morning. Thanks for all the feedback and support.

Hey OWB!

Welcome to the SSC, the absolute best site for support for us non-smokers!!!   I would have had a much harder time quitting without all of the support from my quit buddies here!!!  The information contained in the threads here is also great for learning more about our addiction and how to defeat our arch enemy...  the nico-demon!!!

Get on line as often as you can and do your homework!!   Read and post and read some more!  Knowledge is power!  One thing that really helped me get through the first month or so was to hang out here and read and post and support your quit buddies here!  It's sort of like a daily affirmation!  It really helped me!

As far as the chantix goes...  Seems like you were on it a bit long in the beginning and yes, it must have been torture not just picking a quit date and sticking to your guns!!!  We're all glad you finally got with it though!!!   Be sure to eat something in the morning before you take chantix, because it can cause upset stomach!!!  And drink plenty of water with it!!!  For me, chantix gave me  acid indigestion and of course the wierd dreams!!!  Consequently, when I thought that I had my quit well under control, I got off the drug!!!  You can take it for the full 12 weeks or longer, but I'll bet you will know what is best for you!!!!

Keep a positive mental attitude going through this process!!! That is one of the keys to a successful quit, IMO!!!  I so wanted to quit, I was not going to let anything get in my way!  That CAN-DO attitude will get you through many a crave!!!

One last thing....    If you get a really strong crave get on here and post for help!!!   Wait for at least 5 replies!!!  By then your craving will be gone!!!   AND   remember  N. O. P. E.!!!!

You CAN do this....  we're here to help!!!

Hi OWB,
Nice to meet you and welcome to the SSC!

If you are having a technical problem, you can click on "feedback" at the bottom of the page.
Perhaps someone there will be able to identify the issue for you. It's really fun to have the
quit meter going as it's such great positive reinforcement!

Sounds like you have a great attitude to quit. Isn't it such a relief to finally just quit it altogether
instead of torturing yourself with cutbacks???? It's a great freedom you have given yourself and wonderful
gift for your children.  There are others here who have quit for medical reasons and surgery.... the healing is so much faster without smoking!

Good luck! You are doing great so hang in there and keep us updated.
best,
HP

I can't seem to get that quit meter program to work on vista. It made me install .NET and then it still didn't work.Oh well. So  5 days down, many healthy wonderful days to come. It's hard to believe I'm doing it.  This quit is the one for me.

thanks for all your support!

Hi Owb,

Glad to see you are doing well on the champix. You might want to check with your pharmacist or doctor if it would be safe and advisable for you to take a 1/2 pill or wait until your next dose tonight.

In the meantime keep all your strategies in mind. Hang in there and keep us posted!

Hi everybody! Still quit!

I can't say enough about this champix (maybe they'll pay me... lmao, j/k). But it's actually doing what it's supposed to. These have by far been the mildest withdrawals I have ever suffered trying to quit before.

My Fiancee is going to quit with champix as long as it agrees with her and her other medications once I'm legitimately quit. If I could have known my mood would be so much better this quit we would have quit together.

I might have had better chances without champix if I had come here for support and info, but I didn't even know this place existed.

This morning I got sick after taking my morning medications and champix. I know my other medications came up, but I'm not sure if the champix came up. Does anyone know if it would be better to take a half a pill just in case, or wait until tonight until I take my next dose? I'm not looking for medical advice, just personal experiences, if any suffice.

Keep up the great work Mods, Non-Smokers, and those still trying to quit! You'll know it when the times right.  And it just feels so RIGHT this time.

I'll check back in later.

Thanks for all the support!
