I'm with Tresa about fearing failure...

More concretely I feared a blow up with the ex. That has always been a huge trigger for me that I can't control. Well this week brought a huge blow up--far worse than anything I could have imagined.

So far so good, but this has been the hardest I've had to fight since the first couple of days. I even found myself walking to the store to buy a pack and just have one. Luckily the walk lasted longer than the crave...

My biggest fear was the quit itself. I was afraid of everything, the biggest of all Life.  How will I do or cope with anything without a cig?  I really thought that I would never enjoy my life or anything in it again.  HOW STUPID!!  It took some time, but life is great.. I had to struggle just like Tresa, but when you learn you can beat it, it is so much easier.  I wish I would have done it sooner.

My biggest fear is that I won't figure out what to replace smoking with...... there's tons of options, but that little addict in me likes to say things like "boring!  None of that is as good as a cigarette!"  And wonderful chit chat like that.  So as I go through these horrible withdrawals, I'm making an ongoing list of things to combat that very real fear.

I also will have to agree with Tresa is that I can't make this quit work again. Maybe that's why I have to prolong it. DJ

Kylisa,

Great thread topic! We have to face so many of our fears when quitting, it is part of the challenge. It's a great feeling of accomplishment to realize that you've faced your fears and won!
