Nasty lil friends...

I have about two groups of friends of 5 each of which they don't mendle with one another so I guess you could say they are different type of friends.

Last night I said "I'm going to Christopher to torture myself and see if I can survive it." Because they are a group of students hiring a big house together and they all smoke. I made it through the night being offered cigarettes on two occasions and when I told them I quit they were all surprised and said they wished they could quit and one said he has to quit too.

The problem is not them but the other group which if I say "I quit" they would explicitly not quit :P . That's their mindset.. kinda rebel-ish.

Perhaps I have to try them too today xD

Like Deb48 says, I'm very proud of you for quitting like this and being smart enough to come in to this site for support. So, you pull your wagons into a circle and only allow non-smokers into your fortress.  You stop now and it will be like you've never smoked at all - your lungs will be pristine again and you won't have to struggle for breath when you're 40.
Keep drinking the iced water and staying calm....

You can do it---my daughter is a bit older than you (24)...She quit about January 07--(about 1.8 years ago)...she loves her non-smoking life & is so beautiful and healthy from continued healthy choices...

All her girlfriends smoked in high school...about a group of 8. Guess what...there is only 1 smoker left.....One by one they all saw the light...& there was A leader--the first who quit (she's now in medical school studying to be a pediatrician)......
You, too are the leader of your crowd--it's very likely the rest  will join you; when they see this CAN be done..

If I were your mom I would be SO proud of you. You are to be commended for your wisdom and decsion to stop smoking. It will have such a positive impact on your life....

So--you keep your resolve & be true to yourself. You CAN DO THIS!!!!!

You GO Girl!
Deb

How are you doing I candoit?    Are these "close" friends or just ...pals from school?   CD had a great come back about not hurting you..  they sound a bit immature.

If you can save up your smoking money..  and buy something you have been wanting. Or even have the money in a savings account...

You can also tell them.. well smoking is a choice.. and I choose NO.

stay strong, you have made the very best decision.. Bonnie

I'd just say.....

"You know, if it were you quitting, and I knew it was something you really wanted, I'd want to help you, not hurt you...."

Stick to your guns and do this for yourself. If you're a teen you have a BIG jump on a guy like me whos pushing 50. Trust me in this, you will not like what the smokes do to you over the years.

Hang in there - GODD LUCK!!!!
