I have tried in the past everything available, none of them were successful.
Now I have been cold turkey for almost 3 weeks with very few withdraw side effects.
 
Don't know why but I have no wish to smoke. I don't care for it anymore!
I believe it is all about being honest with yourself. I might be wrong.
The only thing I know is that it is fantastic not to smoke. I haven't felt so well for such a long time.

My last quit was 9 months long. I'm restarting again after a lapse. I was successful using nicotine replacement therapy.
I used the 21mg patches for about 2 months, then stepped down to 14mg for a month then went to the 7mg for about a month. I used nic gum for peak craves during the entire process. After the NRT I stayed quit for about 5 months. I let stress get the better of me and made a bad decision and smoked. I was hooked again instantly. Don't have even one folks. We're addicts, lets face it.
 
Cold turkey, NRT, hypnosis, magnetic bracelets - who cares - If you're not smoking then do whatever it is you're doing. Each of us is different and we each will cope with this in our own way. If something isn't working, try something else. Just stay away from the smokes.

I chose Cold Turkey this time. I wasn't to sure what to expect when i started this CT quit & by the 3rd day i was literally going insane so i rushed out & bought the Allen Carr book & wouldn't you know, everything started to make sence !

I know now that it doesn't matter what method you chose as all methods should work.... they key is to learn why you smoke because the method only deals with the initial nicotine withdrawl. I Tried NRT (gum) once & i guess would've made it knowing what i know now.

Well I started on patches,tired to come off them after a month felt dreadful....
Did another 12 weeks patches then used 2mg gum twice a day felt great for abot 3 months then wham!!!
Another few weeks of patches followed by couple of days on gum and that was it!!!!!!
 
Sometimes the craves are there,yesterday would have loved a smoke,lasted about 2 mins!

Initally mine was cold turkey...Then I bought a pack of nicotine gum to help me with the cravings. I did not finish all the pack. I found that they were burning my mouth. I find that I am succesful drinking water, chewing sugar free gum and doing exercise. Cycling has been a very big help... I also read and listen to music.

I used the Chantix, and then after about a month, added some anti anxiety meds to help.  With the treatment for the anxiety and the Chantix, I had half of it down, and then the SSC helped me with the rest of it...many times.  It was a combinations of preperation, medication and dedication.  Whew..that was a mouthful.

I used the patch alone before but not with alot of success I'm now on an anti depressant and a couple of mood stabilizers and I really think that with the patch and those is how I quit.

In the past, I had tried using the nicotine patch on its own, with limited success.  I would last a few weeks, a few months at most, and then I would relapse.  This time, I listened to my doctor and I tried the patch and Zyban together.  I always found that whenever I quit smoking, depression would get in the way.  So with the patch for the physical part of the addiction, and the Zyban for the psychological part, I have to say I had an easier time of it.  I'm off the patch now, and down to 1/2 the Zyban dose, and doing really well.  Check out the options...there's a lot out there.
