The first few days really are the worst and am sure by now you are looking forward to being able to say proudly you have not smoked for one whole week-its an amazing feeling!!-and you can also enjoy that reward you promised yourself!!

You'll get there Fr8!  You have that determined tone to your posts that shows that this is a task you've set yourself which you'll complete.  Keeep coming in here and reading and posting.  It got me through those first weeks of panic and fear - I was online many times during the day absorbing the strength of the long-timers and the determination of the newbies...

Train,

Who knew a trip to the library could be so beneficial!  Good for you for making more preparation and getting back in there!  We look forward to celebrating with you.

As I thought, today was better than yesterday. So far, so good. You know I figured if it worked once it'll work again so I am back at the library today staying smoke free and talking to you all. In addition to it being a "safe place" for me during this HELL week, I am attending a Team in Training informational meeting this evening here as well. If you are not familiar with Team in Training (team in training) it is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training,® the world's largest endurance sports training program. The program provides training to run or walk marathons and half marathons or participate in triathlons and century(100-mile) bike rides Since 1988, more than 360,000 volunteer participants have helped raise more than $850 million.

Now I actually used to be a runner when I was younger, much younger, believe it or not and I did love the "high" that running gave me. Since those golden years of youth, I have participated in only a handful of running races and really desire to get back that feeling I had as a youth. My crutch (cigarettes) always held me back in my early adult life and now that I have decided to quit being a slave to the drug nicotine, I find myself about 50 lbs over weight, that's 3.5 stone/22 kg for my European friends. So getting back into the running game is going to not only take discipline, to get out the door on a regular basis, but discipline to not try too much too fast. I have done that before and ended up injured for several weeks. So when I found out that Team in Training was holding an informational meeting here at the library I was determined to, if nothing else, attend and hope that I can get back into the running game, increase my stamina, health and overall fitness.

So I am smoke free for yet another day and I look forward to being smoke free tomorrow. Until then my friends...
