Good luck on the 8th of August. It's really smart to be going into theatre with the nicotine addiction in check. Keep reading in here like everybody says and post about your worries as you go along....

Don't hope you do it, make it an affirmation you will not smoke again. Also don't do it just for the surgery. I knew for example a women who got pregnant and decided to quit smoking until she had her first baby because that's what the docs told her. The day she had her child the psychology took over her brain and it told her that she had achieved her objective. Thereafter she immediately began to smoke after that. I hope you can see it in yourself that another puff has use to you anymore, and therefore there is no need to hope because it you are so sure it's done and finished. Ron

I quit Sunday when I had my last cigarette before bed. I had it planned out that that would be the last cigarette in the pack. So far so good. I think being on all the pain pills that I'm on helps control the physical side of quitting, it's the mental part that I have to deal with. It's hard to resist the temptation to go buy more. I am going to make a honest effort to quit though.
My back surgery is scheduled for 8/8 so my system should be cleaned out of nicotine by then.
