Hey Smokey!

Hi and welcome!!  Hopefully you made it through another day and you have your first 5 days under your belt!!  Hold out a couple more days, and you will have Hell Week crossed off your non-smoking journey!!!  It sounds like you have a great positive mental attitude about quitting and I feel that is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle!!!  Other than that, keep close and read and learn and you will do just fine!!!  Don't forget to reward yourself, even for the smallest achievements!!

Thanks everyone for the inspiring posts.

Being a stressor, my addiction to work beget my addiction to cigarettes and as I remain a workaholic I fear the only logical consequence of relighting. Robert Stevenson once wrote, "keep your fears to yourself, but share your inspiration with others". Though I condone expression of one's own fears, inspiration is a far more powerful expression that we should be cognizant of. Just as we should confide in ourselves when handling addictions, so too should we confide in others. Everyone has been very inspiring so far and I hope I can carry on this forum's legacy by inspiring those in my life troubled with addictions.

On a lighter note, a full-fledged paragraph on smoking puns I found enlightening and hilarious....
"Yeah, it's a real drag, and anyone who starts probably deserves a hit. It's amazing the way many smokers are led ashtray into believing that the possible evils of smoking won't happen to them. It's foolish, to create that kind of a smokescreen against your own, rational mind. Butt, continuing to smoke when you know that it DOES partially paralyze your throat, well, that's just scillia."

Get 'er done!

Smokey the Bear,

Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on deciding to kick the habit!

We strongly encourage you to prepare for your quit using the program. Quitting smoking is not only a habit, it's an addiction. This program is going to help you plan how to deal with cravings and more importantly teach you how to replace this old habit with a new one.

You'll also need to put into place a reward system. It should have three components: small one for after each craving, medium for the end of each smoke-free day and a bigger one for the end of each smoke-free week.

Start reading through the forums, you'll quickly realize that many have felt just as you do now and they are now non-smokers. You'll also be able to find a lot of tips and tricks to help you along the way.

Good luck & check back soon!

Hey Everyone,

I am excited to be a part of this group. I have been feeling the urge to relight the magic that is the cigarette. I feel as though this is a great outlet to help me resist my temptations. Advice and feedback is welcomed.
