Aww you guys are making me sad.  This isn't where you feel guilty for what's already been done.  Guilt is a completely useless emotion that makes a great excuse to do stupid things.  We've all done those things... My dad was dying and I went outside for a smoke.  I smoked through all my pregnancies, and I went outside to smoke at the hospital after giving birth.  I don't have guilt for any of that.  I mean - I was addicted to a very powerful subtance and as far as i'm concerned those examples only prove that.

I shared my friend's story so we could share a laugh at the things we've done for addictions, not cry over them!  lol

I have things that I did, or did not do, so I could  smoke. Most of them involve the raising of my children. But, I have had my cry over those things, quit a few times. We need to make peace with our pasts where smoking was concerned; now that we are quit. It is still hard for me at times, but I am learning to rejoice in the truth that it "is never too late". And rejoice in the fact that I am free from nicotine now.

Lisa,

Please try not to feel guilty, and look at the bright side of things, you are now smoke free! Unfortunately we cannot change the past, but we can look forward to a brighter and more positive future.
You are doing a great job, keep up the good work!

That really does make you remember the insane things you have done to just have that 1 cigarette. I think my worst was my mom was dying of cancer from smoking all her life and i didn't spend every second that I could with her because I just had to go outside and smoke as much as possible at such a stressful time, to this day I feel guilt over that.

.... I thought it would probably be best to turn around and go home, but I wasn't going to go all night without cigarettes, so i just kept going!   I was scared to death!"

Verbatim quote from a friend of mine that braved a storm the other night to go get some smokes.  Sure made me glad that's not me anymore, eh?
