Effects of Classical Music

16 years ago 0 39 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hello,

I find that listening music such as Classical and Jazz helps me forget about the cravings and calms me down. This has been such a good help for me in quitting. It is very good and I highly reccommed it.

Here are some suggested composers for classical:

Bach ( Goldberg Variations are really helpful!!!)
Vivaldi
Handel

In Jazz, I like:

Miles Davis
John Coltrane
Joe Lovano

Happy listening to everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Members,

Our focus in recent weeks has been on stress management. The positive effects of classical music have been widely studied. Although the consensus that classical music increases intellectual ability in children has not yet been confirmed, it has been shown that music does improve:

°          Stress levels & burnout rates in the workplace

°          Overall mood

°          Behavioral symptoms in older adults with Alzheimer, brain injuries or other cognitive deficits

°          Spending: Stores who play classical music have been shown to have higher sales than those who do not.

°          Crime: In a landmark study, the London Transit System saw a decrease in robberies, assault on workers & vandalism.

°          Retention in college students studying

°          Overall stress levels & decreased anger in individuals with road rage when driving

°          Pain in laboring mothers

°          Singing has also been shown to be beneficial in breathing, mood, self-esteem, stress, anxiety & overall wellness.

What has your experience been with this stress relieving strategy?
