Mike - we really are 2 of a kind!  lol!!

Welcome Rat!!  I used the Chantix on a previous quit attempt, it did make me feel a little queasy also.  I believe my downfall that time was a) my resolve to quit and b) I thought I was in the clear and stopped taking the pills about 8-11 days into my quit.  (too early)

This time I am using the patch and so far so good, as far as not smoking. I have had some other side effects lately though that I believe is caused by the patch that I am using currently. I am on step 2 and am thinking about stepping down a little earlier than the instructions recommend.  I have started taking it off before bed and like Mike/Astrofan, am getting a much better nights sleep now - but shortly after I put it on in the morning I get dizzy, slightly blurry vision and just feel generally crappy or sad-ish.

Keep posting here and KEEP UP THE GREAT QUIT!!!!!!!  :)

Jen

Hi Rat and welcome!
Yes, the first and second week are TOUGH. But each hour, each day you go without a cigarette , you get stronger and it gets easier. For me, I came here constantly, for support and to vent. It really helped me out. Use the tools and resources up above, this will help you with what to expect during your quit. Keep your mind and hands busy, the less you think about your quit or how hard it is, the better off you will be. I cleaned and organized my house, it kept my mind busy. I also slept more than usual, my body and mind needed it,I think. Set up a quit meter (my mileage), this helps me to this day. I am too proud of it to have to set it back to zero. It has saved me, when i really wanted one.

rat
i used the patch for a short time and it worked well.but i took it off at night because of the wild dreams it can cause.

sometimes though on the weekends i would leave it on a night , i was just curious to see how crazy the dreams would get and i didn't have to work the next day so not sleeping much wasn't that big of a deal.

Thanks for the welcome Mike.  I agree with the not always being easy part, but I'm gonna do it damn it!

Rat,  I think that no matter what method you use to help, the important thing is that you are no longer sucking on a cancer stick.
We can do this Rat....  stay strong with me.

Rat,

Welcome and congratulations on making the decision to quit smoking! We encourage you to start working through the program and creating a coping plan for you quit. Remember the 4 D's:

Delay
Drink Water
Deep Breath
Distract

Write down all of the side effects you are experiencing on Champix and speak with your doctor or pharmacist about the dosage. They may be able to adjust it for you.

Have you been rewarding yourself?

Hi Rat,

I am also on day 3 of my quit and taking Chantix. I found that taking it with food has helped alot. I eat 1/2 slice of toast before I take it and then immediately eat the other half.  Beleive it or not, its working .

Hang in there, we can do it!

hey Rat, try taking the Chantix with food it will help with the nausea, even if it is just a granola bar.

There is quite a few posts on Chantix here, try typing that in the search bar top right and you can check them out.

Hang tough!!
