First of all.. Thank you all very much for your incredible support ! I know for a fact that I wouldn't have gotten this far without you guys :) Well I went to the store and stood there waiting for it to open at 9 a.m. and bought the patches. As I was standing in the line I was reading the box and I just shook my head.. I was only on the 21 mg. for just a month and on the package it says "weeks 1 through 6" !?!? I was certain it was for 4 weeks. Anyway I got home and immediately put one on (almost 2 hrs ago) and finally feeling a lot less edgy :) I am going to follow the program to a "t" ! I also decided that I'm taking myself off of all caffeine .. coffee, chocolate etc. I picked up some decaf tea and some more white tea as well as some celery and carrots to munch on. Included in this little grab bag of mine I got some of that new longer lasting sugar free gum called 'Stride'. I've been chewing the same piece for 2 hrs.. ;p So it really does last in flavour :) Once again I cannot express how thankful I am to have you all here supporting me and my decision ! ;) Now I just need to calm myself down some more and do some breathing exercises. Love and hugs .. and have a super smoke free day :) :) Peace :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 800 Amount Saved: $360.00 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 14 Mins: 21 Seconds: 59

Peace, first of all let me congratulate you for NOT buy those smokes. As tempting as it may seem, it's not worth it. Mr. Jazz and I followed our patch program to a "t". We were on the 21 mg for 6 weeks, then the 14 mg for 2, then the 7 mg for 2. I know it's different for everyone, but it was strongly suggeseted that we not vary from it whatsoever. I'm not going to suggest it was simple to step down, but the cravings weren't as bad as I thought they would be. Maybe just those extra 2 weeks made a difference - I don't know. I also picked up 1 extra box of 7 mg patches for emergency purposes. I know there will be a couple of huge triggers coming up shortly and I don't want to get caught off guard. I don't expect either of us will have to use them, but to me it's worth it if we can keep our quits through these times. Hang on tight to your awesome 40 day quit. You've come so far! I really thought I was ready or maybe I was just hoping that I could step down to the 14 mg. patch earlier than what the program calls for.. who knows. Ok.. I didn't smoke, but I have to say that I did step down to the 14 mg. patch too early. I came >>> _ <<< this close to running to the store to buy a pack ! I didn't though ! So in about an hour or so I'm going to pick up another box of the 21 mg. box of patches. The program says to be on them for 6 weeks and I stopped at the 4 week mark - guess they know what they're are suggesting. It was WAY past uncomfortable for me - it was freaking nerve wracking and my life felt like it was suspended in pure hell and I'm just not going to put myself through that. It's not my first option going back up on the patch but I thought about it long and hard over the weekend and it's a much better option than smoking... now that's a very scary thought. I KNOW that quitting isn't meant to be easy but what I had been going through for the last 8 days back to back to back is just too much for me to handle. I'm somewhat disappointed but I'd be far more disappointed if I bought a pack and just threw in the towel. My dr. warned me that even with the NRT my depression might worsen and it has and I can deal with that to a certain degree, but I was plummeting into a deep dark hole. Thanks for listening to me and my rantings, venting, whatever... :confuse: Peace :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 800 Amount Saved: $360.00 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 13 Mins: 55 Seconds: 31
