not really coughing

16 years ago 0 567 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Folks--I am grateful to hear from all you non-coughers; as I too (who have indulged for more than 30 years) did not cough while smoking or during the quit process. Like you, I am not complaining, but I am comforted to hear that for some this is not unusual. Thank you Sylvie ! Of course.. as everyone's quit is different, it would follow that everyone will experience different symptoms. Members, Every quitter can experience different symptoms. Some cough a lot and some don't cough at all. Our bodies have the great ability to heal and repair. Toxins can be eliminated through various ways so no need to worry if you don't have a cough. Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

I too have not coughed up anything. I smoked for 35 yrs with about 7 quit attempts in the last 2 years. It kind of bothers me :confuse: that I'm not coughing the crap up. I mean I'm glad I'm not.. but I want to echo the other posts with.. WHERE IS THIS 'STUFF'????? I have known so many other people who smoked approx. 20 cigs a day for as long I did and they are coughing a lot and also constantly clearing their throats. Peace :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 36 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 720 Amount Saved: $324.00 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 3 Mins: 26 Seconds: 28

No coughing here either. I drank a lot of water the first couple weeks.. I'm still drinking water.. maybe not quite as much. I keep picturing my lungs getting all clean and pink... Hi Judy With me and my quit - No Coughing. I thought that I'd be coughing up all this "crap" but -nothing. I am not complaining, but it would have been nice to get rid of some of that crap, it has to go somewhere doesn't it?! Judy, It's different for everyone. It could depend on the length of time you smoked, the brand and the number of times you've tried to quit. It's recommended to drink plenty of water to help flush you system. Members, have you had a similar experience? Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Hey Judy & Jazz!! I had around 38 years under my belt and never had any hack and bark episodes unless I had the flu or a cold. Since I have quit, I have sometimes had a dry cough from some kind of irritation from pollen or dust or something. Not coughing up anything, but I seem to be coughing from an irritated throat more often... wierd! I think maybe we HAVE absorbed the stuff!!! Yucky thought, huh? Hi Judy. Congratulations on your 23 days!! I haven't coughed at all since I quit. I sometimes wonder where 30 years of the smoking goo has gone! Do we just absorb this stuff?
