Once you quit smoking, HDL cholesterol levels rise within weeks or months to levels that are equal to their nonsmoking peers. Good morning to all! Question....What does smoking have to do with cholestrol?? I was not aware that the 2 were connected. Is there any part of our body that smoking doesn't wreck havoc with? I'm really glad to hear that news, Phil. I checked in with my Dr. a couple of weeks after I quit and asked him how soon I should have my cholesterol checked again. I wanted to see if it goes down enough to get off the statin. Consequently, I'll get it checked again in 3 months and hopefully it will be down enough to get off another pill! Doctors appointment today.. Cholesterol has dropped naturally no need for Statins any more. Triglycerates(sp) have HALVED naturally ALL since I stopped smoking......
