MikeyR, A great starting point for you would be to begin putting your quit plan together. You can do so by accessing the program in your glove compartment. You'll learn about triggers, how to manage withdrawal symptoms, how to push through craves and much more. If you have any questions, we are always here to help. Keep us posted. Hi mikeyR and welcome. I don't know about a trick but that day back in May 2004 when I stared into the sink and saw the blood staring back at me - that kind of did it for me! You are a good age to quit, time is on your side - do it now! Good Luck, Penitent d1412

Mikey, read Nonics post in the thread "Flipping coins" in the forum "Dealing with cravings" - it says a great deal about the problems we face as addicts My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/18/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 72 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,800 Amount Saved: $810.00 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 11 Mins: 47 Seconds: 39

Mikey, welcome.... what you're feeling is not plain old "restlessness" but the symptoms of withdrawal from the drug nicotine. And the "buffer" you feel with cigarettes is another symptom of your addiction which cons you into believing that you're "sorting things out" or that you're getting behind a problem when you light up... it's called blocking out with nicotine any one of a myriad of problems that you are desperately trying NOT to face... Like Nonic said, really take some time and read around this site.. read the threads and the programme and educate yourself about nicotine... we all had to do it, finally, and you sound like you're ready to finish with the addiction... take time to read in here and prepare yourself only after you have absorbed all the information you can.... Mickey Just pull up a chair here and start looking around the site. I think you will find a great deal of information about the addiction that will be useful. nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 461 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,830 Amount Saved: $4,840.50 Life Gained: Days: 86 Hrs: 0 Mins: 1 Seconds: 24

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

16 years ago 0 2 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hey non-smokers, I am a full-fledged smoker from Kentucky with every intention of quitting soon. I have tried several times in the past, most recently with the aid of laser therapy, a non-smoking book from the American Cancer Society, and a fairly good desire to be smoke-free. So where did I go wrong? I really believe that I just got bored. I missed my old friend and the times we shared and eventually succumbed to the urge and fell back down into my smoky pit. I tend to just get restless without cigarettes and I have nothing to lean on to pass time or to buffer awkward situations. Would anyone care to share with me any tricks that they used to end their friendship with cigarettes and ultimately be a smoke-free success?
