Feeling Out of Control

Thank you all for being so supportive! It has been somewhat reassuring to hear that there are others out there with similar situations. It's also somewhat scary to realize how many people are struggling with anxieties; a sign of our times, I guess. Can anyone offer any suggestions on the effects and side effects of the drug effexor? I have both strong anxieties (with heart flutters and shakes) and also experience the depression that often accompanies it. I just want to know if effexor would be the right thing for me, as I am so anxious and never really relaxed. I have read some negative side effects that can occur with the drug but I realize that it usually only affects a small percentage and usually the effects are quite minimal giving you the option of stopping. But, I would appreciate some other opinions. Also, as for the email address thing..... I was hoping that this forum would allow for private messages, especially since we are all here to talk and share things. Through private messaging we can share more personal concerns and possibly build a stronger relationship with other forum members. I think it would be a great addition to this forum. Danielle

Thanks Josie, I think that if we post a name/email spelling things out instead of using the @ or . they can't be picked up by spambots... eg. katieatyahoodotcom Not sure, but i think they can only pick up a highligthed REAL email adress katie Let me know if this is true or if anyone else has any ideas, because it has been very nice to converse on msn and through email with some of the members and could be usful for others as well!!!! :)

Ladies, For those of you new to computers and the internet, there exists what we call mailbots or spambots that do nothing but roam the Internet looking for email addresses to send you spam mail. Although the information you submit when you sign up is private and protected, what you type into a post is public and there for the asking. Therefore if you post your email address or real name, those mailbots will pick up that information. If you are an individual who does not like mail or spambots then please refrain from posting your real name or e-mail address within the site. Danielle, You have come to the right place! Please continue to share your thoughts with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you. We are all a group of individuals who support each other. We look forward to hearing more from you in the future. :) If you look to the left of the screen, you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. We also have developed a Panic Program. This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free". If you have any question or concerns with our €œTOOLS€, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net. We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Thank you for your advice. I am trying to focus on coming back to being myself again. I went through a period of deep dark depression over 2 years ago and vowed when I got better that I would never return. And yet here I am again. I have been trying to seek therapy but have not been successful in getting an appointment which is making me more discouraged and worried that I'm not going to get through this. Also, I'm so torn about whether or not to start on the Effexor. I'm terrified of becoming dependent on meds especially cos I was on paxil for almost 5 years and finally weaned off of it. I'm also worried about side effects; this takes me back to the root of all evil - CONSTANT WORRY AND FEAR OF ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. I don't know how to divert my thoughts. I would very much like to find out if there are some group therapy sessions that are taking place in the Toronto area that I could participate in. I think talking to others with similar problems could be helpful.
