When You Really Just don't Want to Smoke

16 years ago 0 925 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
What an amazing post BC, and what amazing replies from a great bunch of quitters. That feeling of freedom makes our struggles to break this addiction so worthwhile. I know that giving in to my addiction just once will put me back in my prison of smoking. Knowing this fact has helped me feel the freedom since the very moment I put out my last cigarette. Life has never been better for me..I hope it's the same for you too. Keep up the great quits everyone! :) Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 417 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 16,680 Amount Saved: $5,838.00 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 22 Mins: 38 Seconds: 4

Ain't it great to be the one offering the hope Blue Cloud? Someone before you did it for you and now you can turn around and do the same for others. It's a beautiful thing I say. A1........104 days is wonderful. Hang in there. Life is tough with or without a cigarette. We choose without. Thanks Blue Cloud. You need a ((hug)) too for being so supportive. I am just riding an emotional roller coaster right now. I did it before, so I will do it again. Maybe one of those milestone things. Its because of the hope that members like you give that I can go on just that one more day. Blue Cloud and N2. Anxious, yep, I feel you on this one. The only thing that gets me through is positive thinking. Honest, if the voice in my head says "I want a smoke" 'cuz that's what I always did before, I think 'the truth is I DON'T WANT A SMOKE' and if I keep saying "NO I DON'T" to that voice in my head (talk about feeling psycho!), then eventually, I hope, I'll feel exactly like the title of this post all the time! Remember, smoking because you are stressed will not fix your stress, it will only add the stress of addiction to your stress. These are the things I tell myself when I am feeling stressed. Oh, and on a really BAD day, I remember that STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS! Ice cream works wonders! N2, really what is that all about? When I smoked it consumed every thought, how I hated myself for doing it, I mean every moment from waking to sleeping. It consumed me, all I wanted was to be a non smoker, I prayed, I read I did everything. Now here I am, I guess a non smoker with that little something pushing at me, like I am missing something. I know that is completely ridiculous because this is what I wanted more than anything. Maybe it is still the junkie, I need to battle with him a little longer, tell him I lived 15 years smoke free just fine, smoked for 20, and now I am back to what I first was...go away junkie, I don't need you anymore. Happy thoughts..that is what gets me through..dwell on happy thoughts. :) That and this site, I would not have made it through days 35-50 without this site, no way in heck. Yesterday I reported having this great day, and it was for half of it, then stuff happened and it went down the tubes...trickling over til today. I have taken my anxiety meds, I hate taking them, but its better than smoking I guess. One step at a time. My son is really ill with the influenza viris, fever of 105 for days, strep throat, ear infections and he is home by himself, I can't get off work. It is stressing me out, but he is a little better today. I am a nervous Nelly mom...anxiety, my BIGGEST TRIGGER EVER, AND MY BIGGEST PROBLEM!! What a murphys law on that. Its my daughters 15th birthday today also..I worry about EVERYTHING!!! I am having a rambling day..sorry. My boss is gone and I feel like I have more time. I worry about getting sick (which right now either you get the stomach flu or the influenza viris, WI has been HIT)I am sure the rest of you have too. This is the biggest smoking "season" for me. I am taking it one day at a time, waiting for my day...it will come. YIKES, now I sound phycho..sorry. Thank you so much for this, especially today. I struggle a lot around milestones, not just major ones, but I try very hard to stay positive because I remember that when I was smoking, all I could think about was quitting, so now I've done it, and I want to keep it that way, but the struggle sometimes wears on me. So it's wonderful to know that there does come a time that not only is it not a struggle, but it is a joy. Thank you!
