A little while ago I was struggling hard with junkie talk and stress and a myriad of minor complaints. I told myself that I need another milestone to look forward to, and i decided the next big milestone will be my year and a half. Well, here it is, nicotine free and I'm still moving forward :-) Somehow I imagined life would be different as an ex smoker, I thought I would become a 'health nut'- make super healthy food choices, get lots of excersise, take up jogging or something like that :-) I'm surprised by how much has stayed the same, I still crave junk food, I still would rather sleep in than get out of bed, and I'm still a bit jittery when meeting new people. The upside is that when I wake up in the morning my first thought isn't about smoking and when I go to sleep at night my last panting thought isn't that I really should quit smoking. I am far less stressed out than I used to be and don't mind long waits for busses, taxis, doctors, or anything else that used to send me into a tailspin to pass time. A year and a half! I never would have believed it myself!
