Nonic, I always enjoy reading your take on tobacco cessation, you are so very clear on the internal struggle. Statistics for the success rates of tobacco cessation are dismal at best, 7% of those who use NRTs will succeed for 6 months. It sounds bad but without NRTs only 5% will succeed for one month. Using any form of therapy, electronic like this website(which was a Godsend to me), group therapy, or private therapy, increases your chances dramatically. This combined with pharmaceuticals such as Chantix (Champix in the UK) also increase your chances. Every tool you use helps get you closer to your goal of freedom from tobacco. As I wandered about the internet looking at statistics, state to state, in various age groups, using various methods, the number that struck me most was that 80 to 90% of successful long term quitters used the cold turkey method. Don't be discouraged by this if you are an NRT user, once you break the cigarette chain by using NRTs you still get a chance to go 'cold turkey' later but with a greatly reduced dependency. Remember to affirm daily that you are a winner, you are succeeding where many have failed and you will continue to succeed. And always be very very proud of what you have accomplished.
