You hang on tight to your quit, Booling! When you feel the pressure and stress just do 10 sets of focused box-breathing wherever you are - do it so regularly that it becomes your friend through this while you're offline... Dear Booling, I am so sorry for this news. But I am inspired by your response, if that counts for anything, and I thank you for sharing your personal tragedy with us. You courage in the face of this terrible news exposes my wimpiness at wanting to abandon the quit at the first possible excuse. I dedicate my quit to you as I offer prayers for your family. pete My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/25/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 300 Amount Saved: $33.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 6 Mins: 15 Seconds: 11

Thanks everyone! I promised myself that I would post and wait 2 hours if I was going to smoke. It really does work. It is true that it is my mind's way to try and stop the pain. My family is going to have a long hard road ahead. My sister-in law was shockingly diagnosed with cancer (no-primary site) that has spread throughout her body. This news came out of nowhere and has hit us like a truck. They have 2 young children and live across the county from family in a very expensive and exclusive resort town. She can not get proper treatment where they live. The cancer is moving so fast that huge decisions need to be made ever hour. In regards to my quit it has meant long hours in the car, lots of time on the phone, telling people very bad news, trying to sooth my mother, and crying. That is pretty much all of my triggers. I am trying to remind myself that to smoke right now would hurt everyone worse and would not actually make any of this easier to deal with. Thanks again everyone! Sorry for the rambling post, but I imagine I will be posting quite a bit for a few days, until we get some answers. Booling, we can't stop tragedy from coming into our lives, but we do have a choice in how we let it affect us! The cravings are the rantings of the Junkie, and he wants you to give in! Keep your strategies close that you used the first few days to help you through this. Smoking won't make anything better, for any reason, no matter what. It would just add to making to feel worse. Stay strong, take deep breaths and come here if you need us! we understand! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 363 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,075 Amount Saved: $3,829.65 Life Gained: Days: 47 Hrs: 16 Mins: 51 Seconds: 3

Great support everyone! Booling, keep strong and know that smoking will not cure anything. I agree with the above, scream if you have to and break some cheap dishes, very helpful :) Josie, Health Educator
