Angelcapp That is the type of mind set I am talking about. It is such a strong addiction that the mind becomes convinced that the body cannot do without the cigarettes. Having been addicted I understand that, however, viewing that thought process from this vantage point (post addiction), the falacy of the thought pattern is obvious). The irony of it is, however, that we don't know that until we practice cessation for an extended period of time. That is a very clear example of how fooled we are by smoking. It makes us believe that we can not live without it, and in one sense it is correct, because if we continue to smoke, eventually we will not be living at all... Great quit you have going. nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 436 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,080 Amount Saved: $4,578.00 Life Gained: Days: 81 Hrs: 8 Mins: 46 Seconds: 35

Patrick Thank you so much for your kind words. I do enjoy writing, and especially favor the written word when I sense that a few well placed phrases will aid a fellow addict to escape this awful addiction. I know first hand how difficult it can. Any solace that I can offer to a fellow escapee is a blessing to me... Stay well nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 436 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,080 Amount Saved: $4,578.00 Life Gained: Days: 81 Hrs: 8 Mins: 39 Seconds: 1

Excellant post Nonic I work part time for a convenient store, yesterday a gentlemen came and bought some things, one of them was a pack of cigs. He could not find his wallet and had to go out to his car to look for it. After finding it and coming back his comment to me was that we could live without the other things he had bought but could not go on with the cigs. I thought to myself, is that how I was before I quit? Oh how the nicodemon plays with our mind and how we really do truely feel we cannot live without them. I am here 1 year later to tell you that we can live without them! It may be a struggle to get there at first, but I know now how worth it really is! Thanks again for the post My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 368 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,200 Amount Saved: $1,840.00 Life Gained: Days: 40 Hrs: 4 Mins: 38 Seconds: 17

Islandgirl Yes indeed you do put forth a great many positive thoughts on the site. And it is greatly appreiated by folks like me who search those things out. It is a funny thing about us (humans that is), that we tend to see that which we look for. Now that sounds fairly straight forward, but for some reason it is not. I tend to forget that little fact in my day to day life. Thank you for reminding me. I think addiction is a physical manifestation, an indicator if you will, of a loss of awareness of our own ability to live in a positive way. Sometimes we fear that we are not worthy of having goodness in our lives, so in order to prove it to ourselves we seek refuge in things like drugs and alchohol. We in effect become a self-fulfilling prophesy. That is not an easy thing to take in or accept. Sorry for the rambling, I tend to do a lot of that. In any case thank you for all of your contributions. nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 433 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,990 Amount Saved: $4,546.50 Life Gained: Days: 80 Hrs: 17 Mins: 10 Seconds: 46

Nonic, you said: Positive thoughts are like little silver boats on a sea of uncertainty. It has often come to my attention as I make my way through this sometimes seemingly contradictory and difficult world that we humans posess a wonderful tool that is often forgotten and rarely seen. That tool is our innate ability to change our circumstance with our own thoughts This lyrical statement is so important and I feel is coming up more and more across this wide world, and I too believe in it wholehareartedly. Throughout my posts, I try to get across PMA, postive mental attitude. You nailed it, once again, Nonic...you rock! Thanks for the great post! Have a great weekend!
