I am going to respond without reading the previous responses, which is not something I don't usually do, but you post struck a chord with me.
That junkie of yours is trying very very hard to undermine your confidence and comes up with some very good arguments sometimes. Honestly, I still have some of those very same thoughts, but they are easily brushed away, like an annoying fly.
In regards to NOPE. I always precede NOPE with..."If I want to continue to be a non-smoker". NEVER is a very long time, and my addict jumps right on that one, so I don't use it.
As far as the 100% committment thing, well, honestly I have 'moments' where my committment is questioned, even now. At 13 days, it was questioned a lot. This is the crux of quitting. Keep going on, even when you are not sure.
Will you have to fight it for the rest of your life? You will if you go back to smoking. I'm 45....good part of my life. I'm willing to have daily 'thoughts' about smoking, instead of having to live the hell of a smoking life. It does get better...it just takes time. Age 23 is a good time to learn some patience.
Take what you want and leave the rest.
You'll be out of the woods in no time.
Congrats on 13 days!
