Welcome back, Carlos. I'm a newbie, so I wasn't around for your last quit, but I'll be here for this one, so let's make it work. You're lucky in that Patrick unveiled his visualization technique especially for you - the rest of us have had to get by without it up until now... Seriously, though. Like Unhooked said, the ONLY way you're going to make *this* quit work when all your previous quits failed is by simply not smoking. NOPE. *E*V*E*R*. Not only can you do it, Carlos Alberto - you owe it to yourself and you beautiful family. Welcome back Carlos, I believe in you, you can do it. One day, one hour, one minute at a time. Welcome back, Carlos. You know, buddy, you should go back & read your psot starting this thread. You'll see that first you say you've had a couple of "minor" slips. then you say the way you lost all your other quits was a puff here & there. See how that doesn't work, Carlos? NOPE means NOPE. Not One Puff EVER, Carlos. That's how you get it done. Hi Carlos, It is really good to see you back here.I am so glad you have not given up on yourself or that beautiful family. That's a great new picture by the way. You are right in that any day is a good day to be free of this addiction. And, there is no perfect time to quit other than right now. Since you have been smoke free for at least 6 months before, you do know first hand just how wonderful it is. It is not always easy but it is so worth the fight. If you can do it for 15 days, 100 days or 200+ days, you can do it again and this time for good. All you have to do is never take another puff, ever. Hang in there, Carlos, I am wishing you success and strength in your quit. Here is my hand to hold, I am here for you. All the best to you and your family, G My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 216 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,480 Amount Saved: $1,036.80 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 6 Mins: 45 Seconds: 49

Carlos Alberto, I offer this visualization technique because I have used it myself and it worked for me. It is repulsive but it has a great purpose; to stop you smoking and save you for that beautiful family you have. Next time you get a craving and are tempted to take a puff (remember N.O.P.E.?) close your eyes and focus on the following: You're sitting in a filthy little room and it's about 35C and you're in you're best suit and shirt and tie and sitting at a table with nothing on it but a huge salad bowl filled with a brown and black soup of cigarette butts and it is stinking in the unventilated room and you can do nothing but smell that stink but you cannot lift your hands to move it away from you. Two other things are happening and they're happening fast. You can't move from the table and your body is moving face-first into that deep bowl of filth. Now, a disembodied voice, your own voice, tells you that you can have a puff on a cigarette if you stick your face in the soup for two seconds. Save your life for your family and try not to play crazy games with it! Thinking about you and yours... Carlos - Unfortunately, relapse is part of addiction. What matters is that you keep trying until you hit your true quit. I have a feeling this IS it for you. Please.
