The Secret.....

16 years ago 0 46 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
What a wonderful thread!! It took me a while (with numerous failed quits) to figure out that it truly is all about attitude. Believing in yourself and your abilities to quit and viewing yourself as a non-smoker rather than a smoker without cigarettes makes this journey so much smoother. Take pride in your accomplishments. Each day, week, month, year... is to be enjoyed. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,840 Amount Saved: $639.00 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 22 Mins: 33 Seconds: 31

what's wonderful about my smoke free day is to wake up, have my morning coffee and NOT crave a cigarette. I never ever thought I could start a day without that one cigarette. but i feel terrific. thanks for an insipring thread icl elaine

This is a great post, ICL, and it makes me very glad that you've had that epiphany - it's wonderful that you're thinking hard about the whys of your psyh. drivers! I'm just beginning to loosen up and study my own so I thank you. My whole life up to now has been a history of addictive behaviour and having stopped smoking a few weeks ago has made me notice and realize how much I depend on throwing up curtains between me and whatever is bothering me.... Avoidance is a good thing for the time being but I found I have been at odds with family and friends and that irritation is a massive trigger... but I'm dealing with it without cigarettes now! You're so smart to have figured this out at 23 years of age!! ICL, And, that IS the secret..you can be anything you want to be...even, especially a non smoker! (and no posting bad stuff elsewhere-keep it like this and you will love this journey) Now, here's your first happy dance. keep the postive attitude and you will have plenty more My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 335 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,400 Amount Saved: $2,278.00 Life Gained: Days: 47 Hrs: 5 Mins: 40 Seconds: 45

ICL --- This is sooooo true!! Thank you, you have helped me today! Okay, what was wonderful about my smoke free day is that i felt cool in my new car without smoking and stinking it all up!! Let's see, what was wonderful about my smoke free day? Well, I got out of bed and realized I didn't have to have extra time to stand around smoking with my coffee. I did not have to waste any time at work going outside to smoke and when I got off of work I did not stink up myself or my car and went to buy baby rattles and toys for the older grandkids and then I got to kiss em all up and wasn't a stinky grandma. There that about covers it and I'm only 3 days quit. Ew I didn't mean only. I have 3 full days quit! There that's better. ICL you are wonderful to discover that you can be positive about this. Keep up the good work. Yeah I practiced for a few days before my quit day.. seeing myself as a non smoker.. Not wanting to get up after dinner and leave a family party to go outside and smoke.. to realize when I came back into the party I am sure I "REEKED" Yes POSITIVE reinforcement.. often ...
