Panic and Hormones?

20 years ago 0 24 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Thanks for all your responses. I had a suspicion that there was a relation. Near period time, I get so wound up, I call it "peaking". Also, I asked my Doc about the irregular periods and he said that there was a definate connection between your periods and stress. Since we feel very stressed when we have anxiety, it could be a contributing factor. But it's good to know what is causing the weird cycles. Cheers, Lolita

hi lolita, I also get more anxiety when i am getting near my periode. It almost always makes me more anxious. I see a pattern here. They should look closer into this. My periode is also more irregular then it was before i ever took medication for anxiety.

Hi Lolita, I have definitely noticed a correlation between my cycle and my anxiety. I recently tried to research this and discovered some research done in China regarding "Premenstrual exacerbation" which was defined as premenstrual worsening of pre-existing generalized anxiety disorder (GAD. It was conducted at the Department of Psychiatry, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and Chang Gung University School of Medicine, Tao-yuan, Taiwan.

Hi Lolita, I definitly notice an increase in my anxiety and panic closer to my time of the month, usually just prior to and during the beggining. I really think that in women our hormones do a number on us and they can definitly add to the problem. They say that women are more prone to panic and anxiety maybe that has something to do with our hormone? would make sense to me.

Lolita, Can you describe the events that lead up to your symtoms being increased? If it happens at different times, something must trigger the intensity. Perhaps this is something that you can speak to your therapist or doctor about. Josie _____________________________ The Panic Center Supoprt Team.

Hi everyone, I just had a general question. I was noticing in my "panic cycle" that there are different time through the month when I feel an increase in the intensity of my symptoms. I asked my therapist but he was kind of unclear about it so I thought I'd check it out with you all. Does anyone else notice this? And if so, do you think there could be a relation between hormonal cycles and panic/anxiety cycles? Perhaps it's just in my head. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Lolita
