Yes you are normal. The cravings will diminish in a few days, but triggers like to hang around so watch out for them. Lots of water, candy, exercise, busy work anything is better than smoking. Question, once the surgery is over what are plans then? bj2705 has a great idea. Wash all of that stink out and won't be tempted to smell them up again. Very, very normal! I think my last craving was at day nine, but i hadn't had one since day four, before that. I had a "desire" to have a cigarette a couple of times, but that is it. There is a big difference between having a craving and having a desire. One you will rip someones head off for a cigarette and the other you just look at their head lovingly and watch them smoke every inch of the cigarette. It honestly does get easier, cause if it didn't there would be a couple of headless people in the city where i live. Karen, What you are feeling is VERY normal. It takes about three days for the nicotine to clear your system. After the third day, I felt significant relief. I also could not get the thought of cigarettes out of my head. It will get better very soon. It just takes time. In the mean time, take good care of yourself. Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids. Gum, hard candy, and drinking with a straw may give you some relief. Hold on tight, you CAN do this. Hi I finally quit on Sunday, last smoke was saturday pm. I was doing good on sunday no cravings, but Monday? All I can think about is a cig. I try not to. Is this normal feeling you get? I am quitting cold turkey as I have no choice as having surgery and can not use any nicatrol products. But how to you cope with the withdrawel .
