AARRRRGGGG! Welcome buddy! Like Sue said it's all about being prepared. If a pirate (nicodemon) came to steal your booty (your quit) what would you do? You would either be prepared and fight it with all of your canons (water, straws, and all kinds of distractions in your arsenal) or you would cave and give it all to the enemy. NOT!!!! AARRRGGGGGG! Good luck and welcome!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 377 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,540 Amount Saved: $1,055.60 Life Gained: Days: 37 Hrs: 18 Mins: 45 Seconds: 16

Hi pirate. Welcome! Congrats on your decision to quit smoking. It really is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family. Work thru the program here and ask for help when you need it. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 156 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,680 Amount Saved: $912.60 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 3 Mins: 44 Seconds: 59

Hello Pirate & Welcome! This is a great place for quitters, beginners and oldies and all of those in between. Congratulations on your first day. That is a big step and good for you for taking it. Now, do what you did today, tomorrow, and then, the next day, then the next, and then the next... Not quite as simple as that but, not too hard and it is do-able. Just take it one day at a time. The hardest part, making the decision to quit, is behind you. I do wish you luck, Pirate but, most importantly I wish for you, strength, knowledge and power over this addiction. It is evil!! all the best, G My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 191 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,730 Amount Saved: $916.80 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 17 Mins: 29 Seconds: 34

Hi, I am new to this posting business. My quit day was today 28th Jan and I have just managed to get through it without a cigarette. Sorry about my name, its because I work offshore on survey ships, everyone calls me "Pirate" which is noble but not really deserved. I want to give up because I would really love to see my children succeed, they are both at Uni and although they cost me a small fortune I would love to see them finally settle down in jobs or married life, whichever they wish. If I keep smoking I dont believe I would have much longer as I already cough and wheeze quite a lot. Sorry this intro is so long, but I believe there may several others out there in a similar situation. ie I have tried to give up several times but always eventually cracked and went back to full time smoking. Good luck to everyone who is trying to quit, the old tobaco weed is certainly an evil and powerful drug, and I just hope all of you new quitters are doing okay. Pirate
