Terry - shouldn't you go to your doctor and get your own prescription? It's important to let a physician check you out and ask all the right questions before taking any prescription medication. I feel strongly about that one. So I was talking with a friend of mine tonight and telling him that I have been working towards this quit. He asked if I had taken Chantix. Just so happens he has a full prescription that was bought for his son that was never used. I'm going to give it a try beginning Monday. Can anyone out there fill me in on any side affects or any experience you all have with it. I've heard so many people talking about it. Thanks Terry

Thank You everyone for your wonderful support. The funeral service was beautiful and Shane was sent off with lots and lots of love. I will not be quitting tomorrow, but have not given up. I will check back in here regularly and work at getting myself back on track. I know everyone means well, but really, it does take being in the right space and time to do this. I have let my eating and my physical exercise go to hell this past couple of weeks and I need to be in a better place there before I can do the quit. And I will get there, guaranteed.

Hit Terry I hope tomorrow is going to be your day. Quitting is the best gift you can every give yourself and your family because it is the gift of life. Stay strong and just like the others said it's a lot more difficult to make the decision to quit and quit than it is to go through your quit. Once you do it, you'll get through it. Hi Terry, You are in my thoughts and heart today. I know you are struggling. You asked if there were others before you who had long quit dates and succeded in quitting. Yes. You must remember this is your quit. For you, by you and just you. I will gladly hold your hand while you are deciding. Just keep posting and you will know when the time is right for YOU. Hugs. Terry, This may not bring comfort to you today but it is one of my favorite encouraging stories and it might help down the road. A quote that Changing posted made me think of it: A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it had and it could go no further. Then the man decided to help the butterfly, so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly. What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon. Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through our life without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. And we could never fly. - Author Unknown ------------------------------------------------------------------- My continued prayers are with you, your son and Shane's family during this difficult time. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind~~~~~and you will not believe how much easier it is to take that deep breath once you quit smoking. Terry, I am only a little over 2 weeks into the quit and I smoked for 36 years. I have tons of stress in my life, I have all sorts of reasoning that I could use to tell me to keep smoking...but I am not and I will not!! Please, for your sake, for the sake of those you love and those who love you....TRY!! Hang in There...we are all here for you..YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!
