The whole enchilada is waiting for me! That's awesome! I LOOOOVVVVVE Mexican food ;p Seriously, as days go by it really does get easier and that's about the biggest surprise of all considering just how brutal this all began for me. It's getting to the point where I almost like when triggers come out of nowhere just to have another laugh at them, and tell them to "shove off! Go bother someone else cos I'm a NON smoker, Jack! Mwaaahahahah!" I've not once been tempted to smoke since about month three and that's the biggest relief of all. It's almost like the memories of a bad relationship - how many times did I spend every minute of every day pining away for what might have been until the memories faded into oblivion...and wouldn't you know it - memories of smoking are following suit. Thanks for your comment stickin, and more so for this post. It is gradual but the sudden revelation, similar to flicking the switch, can happen and does. Penitent d1361, whose switch got flicked on day 73 as my peers here know :)

Great subject Stickin. I find myself giving a lot of thought to this subject lately. I have been recognizing how impatient I can be. There is a part of me that wants to wake up tomorrow morning and have this BIG GIANT AHA MOMENT LIFE IS GREAT AND I DONT SMOKE AND EVERYTHING IS GREAT FROM THIS DAY FORWARD AND I WILL NEVER THINK ABOUT CIGS AGAIN........ and the other part knows that this is a very gradual process. Once again, I find myself thankful that you and the others here share their experiences so we know we are not alone as we learn our own way through this. Jazz, your post makes complete sense. I am still having some days like that but they are getting less and less as the weeks roll by. I think Stickin to it is right. It takes time to unravel all that. Oh yes Todash! Those nasty little triggers, many we are aware of and some sneak up from behind and kick us in the rear. We don�t know about some of them, until there we are, in the situation, in trigger alley. I was painting the inside of our place and hadn�t painted in several years and low and behold the fumes from the latex paint caused a stir. I was taken back and I said, Oh really! The next day I painted again and at the end of that day I realized, no stir. It is at though there is some unwritten rule that we experience each trigger a minimum of once, no matter how seldom the trigger came about when we were smokers. The good part is with practice, TIME and devotion, all key elements, those triggers become non-issues, as though they never existed. That is the best part of �And it gets better and better and better! So Todash, you have run the test of time, stick to it. The whole enchilada is waiting for you! What is your favorite? Was just a nothing, indeed. What I'm finding particularly interesting - and this has been said by so many people so many times - are what I call 'stealth triggers', or those times that we haven't experienced enough as a non smoker to live through without feeling like something is missing. But it's nothing missing, it's just this stupid routine we don't do anymore. A couple weeks ago DH and I went to a hotel for the weekend just to get away and I had one of those scenarios. When we travelled, the routine was always, get in, shoes off, pour a drink and light up. He still smokes but we had a non-smoking room (ha HA!) so he didn't have that routine either. And you know what? I forgot about the smoking part of the 'routine' within about ten minutes, poured myself a glass of wine and enjoyed a relaxing weekend. Man alive... ALL that damage to ourselves ALL that wasted money ALL that wasted time ALL those wasted years. Jazz, I am so living your getting 'me' back thing. Music from the high school days on the MP3 player, getting back into shape after a year of chocolate and slothdom (I was healing, gis a break!) I'm going back to the me that used to be, and trying it all over again without the nic sticks. She's not here yet, but I tell you what - I'm having a hell of a good time trying to find her and forgetting those milestone days. Because it's abso-freaking-lutely true. Cat, You are doing tremendous cat, about 3 -1/2 months. Good for you and you are seeing how those thoughts start to disappear. If you can, stay busy at night, change what you do or how you do it when you are home, different time tables, talk on the phone it another room in the house... go to bed early. Stay the course! It�s sensible that it is a gradual process; after all it has been engrained in nearly every task that we do, every single day. Not only that, we smoked for years and years, if not, for decades and decades. It takes time, time to unravel all that. We need to be aware that this is a journey, and that craves are going to come and crave are going to go, smoking thoughts will linger however they WILL fade as well. It is the journey we set out to do, the journey that is going to make us well. We want that life, the life of being independent, not dependent on those damm things. Yes, we are going to do some changing around here. We are given this stuff up! You hang with this Jazz, you will get better and love yourself for what you have done!
